Someone on the 4G is making them, but he wants to see how they turn out first. he said that after he's done making them for the 4G, he might start making them for us. I e-mailed him and told him that the Illuminated door sills are a high demand for the 3G. Yah $300.00 is a lot of money for them. the last person that did them only charged $169.00 which is a good deal for them.

ya the last person who was making them only charged 160 but have you seen them? They are just overlays that go over your stock sills with double sided tape. They look cheap IMO you get what you pay for or less. The set you can buy for 300 is expensive but its actually done right using the OEM sill and cutting out the Acura lettering.
Here are the 160 door sills that were offered.
Here is the custom version that replaces the factory sill.
Now you tell me which you would rather have on your car.

Fair enough I don't think they should cost 300 either if someone can cut the stock ones for cheaper on a CNC machine I would love to get a set. I don't think I would even consider purchasing the overlays though even if they were available they just look too cheap IMO. I come from the Acura Legend community where everything we had made was custom made and expensive so 300 for door sills isn't that much especially considering how rare this item is. I am waiting for the guy to email me back I hope I cant still even purchase these for 300

I would love to get that contact!! If its gonna take a month I want to get the process going! I do want white so if all he can offer is blue I would purchase them without the strips all I need is the Acura cut out! I can buy the light strips with inverter in any color.

yeah EL strips with inverters can be purchased separately.
if i remember his address is andym22@optonline.net try that. good luck
on another note, my uncle has connections with a guy who owns and operates a cnc and water jet cutter. i gave him an old door sill for him to do. but people lost interest so i never followed up on it. he said he could do it no problem, just gotta figure out the cost for programing and set-up of the cutting machine.

In a nutshell, it's going to have to likely go down like this. It will be a DIY mod that simply requires installing some $50 worth of EL strip/converters + cutting/shipping costs. The hardest part will be to find a shop to commit to the matter. Almost any/all CNC/WJ cutting company charge an arm and a leg for set-up costs, so..
(1) Someone will have to find a shop willing to even quote the matter
(2) Set-up cost (programming) + per-piece price will be established
(3) List for GD will be generated, price distributed accordingly
Hell, I work in a heavy assembly factory and my CnC guys won't even touch the job...just too poor an ROI for the job. (Lord, did I try!)

i talked to a local guy here last week and he told me this..
"It can be done but you are probably looking at around a $150 set up fee and $75-100/per. You would come out much cheaper to cut out a whole new panel but then the fit and finish would not be the same." I might go to him sometime in the summer.

It is a shame that these are so rare because they REALLY are inviting whenever you enter the car. I hope someone starts making these again although I can see why some may feel they aren't worth it from an ROI standpoint after reading what some charge for setup costs.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon a set from Spiritman brand new last year but my fear is that one of the light strips on the driver side might have gone out now (unless my wiring went bad somewhere). Where are you able to purchase another EL strip from? I contacted supercomputers but no response from him.

You can get replacement parts on ebay from seller "bidonline777" or their website glowhut.com. They sell both inverters and EL panels.

could do it very ghetto and find a drill bit thats the same width as the corners in the letters, drill the corners out and then cut between the drilled holes, then clean it up via sanding
