Live and learn man. I did all the bushings on my first TL back in 2009 thus how I knew lol. As for the zip tie, do try it. Start with less tension and gradually increase it. The sole purpose is just to remove the sloppy lever play so don't go too crazy or it might bind. Luckily it's easily reversible lol.

I've had my 08 TL-S for two years now. Shifting was always weird compared to my NSX. Gotta let the clutch out slower to not get jerks. I installed a XLR8 engine torque damper which helped a lot. I've gotten use to it but could never shift fast smoothly like I can in my NSX. Would removing this valve make my engine damper useless. Thinking about this.

No, the SC valve slows the engagement of the clutch, removing it will give you a slightly better clutch engagement. The TQ dampener keeps the engine from moving under load and saves the rear engine mount. The TL uses a dampened flywheel and a solid clutch disc instead of the more traditional sprung clutch disc/ solid flywheel setup you have in the NSX. So the TL will never be as smooth shifting clutch wise unless you switch to a solid flywheel /sprung clutch disc setup.

Well of course it would not be the same. Different cars and all. But this is catching my attention as I have driven many stick shift cars and the clutch in the TL took the longest to get use to.

Coincidence?

So since my delete about 300 miles ago, my clutch pedal has started creaking randomly i have read the creak is common, but is it due to the CVD? Thanks.

No, it will make it more useful, since now you don't have the check valve "softening" the shock anymore.

Shouldn't be. The master cylinder goes. Mine crapped out a while back too, same tell tale sign, creak from pedal area. Check the pedal first to see if anything is loose. When I was shopping around, I test drove one that also had the creak, and it was 100% stock.

Wish I could try someone's car that has this done to it. I came from an 02 RSX-S and I don't really notice a difference in how my TL-S shifts. Only difference is the clutch is much softer, but shifting feels about the same.

If you are happy with how the car shifts, don't tempt fate. Leave well enough alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Leave it the fuck alone.

I was thinking the same thing while driving it today "I wonder if the check valve delete will make this thing easier to drive" haha. Today was the first day driving it and wasn't quite used to it yet.

Blah I remember looking up the diy one time a while back and wasn't sure I could tackle this on my own

Well, I've put 10 miles on my Type S and I need to do this ASAP, lol

At first, I thought my clutch was slipping.. And then I did some research.

WOW, what a terrible driving experience this gives the 6 speeds.

I just did the check valve delete on my DD and I am so glad I did. I never liked the way the TL shifted or started in 1st gear--made me feel like I didn't know how to drive stick with the inconsistent clutch feel. Now it feels like any old stick shift and I can drive as smoothly as I want or "give it the beans" if I want. Just pure, simple mechanical pleasure

Right, it was embarrassing with passengers in the car. Or even with anyone else around. My exhaust is so loud, anyone within a block or so could hear my sloppy shifting and botched 1st gear starts. Quiet exhaust is next on the list :o
