If someone told you they could make anything out of Carbon Fiber for either structural or cosmetic purposes for your ACRUA, What would you want? And what would you be willing to pay for HIGH END parts?

I was thinking some light weight half shafts that are stiffer and lighter than stock. What do other think???

whole car redone to carbon fiber (not just vinyl overlay)

i wonder how much weight that would actually reduce

Well depends on crash and engine loads. But to give you some basic numbers CF has a density of 1.5-1.8g/cm^3 Steel has a density of 7.8g/cm^3. but not sure how thick you would have to make it.....

Acurazine was made in the USA. Screw Canadians!

I'd say the best thing to get in Carbon Fiber for our cars is the hood.

realistically...

hood, doors, trunk, front and rear splitter, side skirt lip, lip spoiler, roof spoiler, dashboard, headlight housings, front grille, front and rear fenders, engine cover, roof overlay, all plastic interior panels...

+ everything jptl04 already did.

First off i dont know if you notice but your car is metric.......even tho it was made in the USA but its .28lbs/in^3 vs .054lbs/in^3

On a CF shaft I havent run the numbers yet. I think it would be pretty light. I would guess half the weight. Whats the max torque you would want them rated to and with what factor of safety?

I think if you produced CF fenders and trunk you could get a decent list of buyers. Maybe CF wheels painted?

look at the enzo as a example, it CAN be done, and has BEEN done before, but yes the price does skyrocket though

you know the TL is more American, then some so called "American" cars, with being built in the Marysville, Ohio plant

then i think the v6 engine is built in a Anne, Ohio plant (i may have the name wrong, but i know it is closeby though)

Isn't the trunk just one piece? If you somehow got the blueprints for that and the front fenders (quarter panels) I think a lot of the racers here would be interested.

, fenders will not save you a whole lot of weight

what i REALLY want to see are some doors....

BTW issue with CF driveshafte/axles for FWD, room is kinda lacking up there, especially going through the fork for the strut (they need to be a larger diameter then a simple steel one)

I think the correct term is "assembled" in the USA. Anything I have taken off or changed was made somewhere else.

the curb weight of the car is something like 3,500 + lbs! CF parts aren't gonna do shit! as far as weight savings. they'll look cool though. the only one who would notice a difference as far as performance due to weight loss is inacurate since his TL suffers from anorexia

Hence the red text.

proper way to lay CF is to make a mold of what you want, then put layer upon layer of carbon fiber and layer upon layer of resin.

that is how to make it, blueprints will not work, carbon fiber is pretty difficult to cut

Why do you say this? vill0169 has the HVAC deleted. The HVAC is the only thing extra that he has removed compared to mine.

Mine is a DD. The other is a track-only car.

Feels good to have a friendly "TL Diet" rivalry
