Icy roads suck :(

i normally don't mind the cold weather, but last night all the roads were frozen.

i had to go somewhere with the fiance and her son, so we get are right around the corner from the place, i see the roads are a little slick so i start to brake 1/2 up the block. all of a sudden the car starts to slide, abs is going completly nuts. I then realized that the car wasn't gonna stop, when i got near the corner it tried to tuen the wheel and hope the car caught traction and let me make the turn, well that didn't happen. I had 2 choices, either hit a brick wall(garage) or a parked car. i managed to miss the oarked car and hit the brick wall. don't know how or why, but there is not a single scratch on my car except for my rim getting scratched when the car hit the curb. the wall had a huge blue mark on it, but nothing on my car. i think i hit a plastic garbage can and it got stuck between my car and the wall which saved the car.

long story short
lost control because of ice and hit a brick wall, but there was no damage

Amazing!!! Someone was on your side!!! Glad that you and your passengers are alright and that your ride wasn't damaged.

Now...if only all of us could be so lucky!

ICE SUCKS!

It seems that poor plastic garbage can in front of the wall is your car saver...

I hate icy roads...

Sorry to hear that.
I would definitely get your alignment checked. Hitting a curb could have knocked it out of alignment.
And then move to Tucson.

I know what you mean. I was in NY last night. The roads were a mess. Traffic was horrible. Didn't drive my TL tho. Had a limo.

One night i was going down a street, hit some black ice (I was probably going around 30-35 mph), hit the black ice, car swerved to the left then came back to the right and went straight into a snowbank. The right corner of my car was mainly in the snowbank, plus my car was liften on snow!!! Tried to reverse out of the snowbank, didnt work. So then went back to my house with a friend, grabbed a couple of shovels, my dad and his 96 audi a6 stationwagon. Went back to my car, started digging it out for at least 2 hours. Then tied 2 ropes on the bottom of my car where 2 metal things are, dont know what there called, then tied the end of those 2 ropes to the end of my dads stationwagon, while tied to his car, my dad pressed on the gas pedal and removed my car from the snowbank.

haha who needs a big truck to tow a car out of a snowbank when you got an audi stationwagon?

I agree, I parked my car last night infront of my house, and because of all the ice, the car started to slide backwards.

I witnessed that on the 2nd previous snowstorm. People were sliding down the hill, one after the other, at least 10 cars. I, along with other cars, was stuck at the bottom of the hill, car were sliding past me, inches away from smashing into me. Ice such, such a small amount of it makes the roads unbearable. On my way to the subway today,i saw many accidents on the highway. I have winter, i wish it is like it was 2 days ago all year round, except for the summer, where it would get hot.

OMG that was a funny video. I know exactly how those people feel as they go sliding into the car. One time I was driving my friends SUV with 4x4 in icy roads. I was driving down a hill when I came to a stop so I could turn the car to drive up the hill. Well half way through the turn the cars rear whips out and it starts sliding down the hill with a huge pick-up in my path. I was so freaked out. I had the brakes slammed which obviously wasn't the thing to do. So I came to my senses and let off the brakes and then hit them more gently. I stopped within inches of the pick-up. I was so relieved.

I just LOVE when SUV drivers finally get the hard lesson that 4x4 will NOT help you stop! You see them going 60+ on snow and ice.....serves them right. And what's up with the people jumping out of their cars!?!?!?!

I like the one that opened the door and tried to use the snow to slow them down.

Do people not think?

If your tires are locked up your going to slide in same direction, let off the breaks, they will turn, while they turn you can steer somewhat.... DOH!! lol ontop of which you will be able to slow down a little...
