I35..........easy work
I35..........easy work
I was on the interstate today going to get a few movies for tonight. I was driving along going 60mph(speed limit is 55 on this road, but it opens up into some real long straightaway's) there was a black I35 in front of me, just an older guy going about 50MPH. I wanted to pass and waiting until I got to a nice straightaway, no one was coming so I put it into 2nd going about 50 and step on it, my tirees chirped real bad then once I got traction I went for, he guns it and I fly by like he was standing still, a few seconds later he was a dot in my rearview. fun.
they aren't slow I know. I am not stock though and since I switched to amsoil and did the amsoil engine flush beforehand my car has been running a lot better and accelerating much smoother and quicker. I have been able to take 5at max's and stock tl-s so I figured I could beat him anyway, but the way I just took off and he couldn't come close to stopping my pull was very enjoyable to me. I am very proud of my car. I just ordered a new front motor mount and some I'll do a 2x drain and fill with amsoil ATF and get some Continental Conti Extreme Contacts 225/55/R16's and then my car will even smoother and stronger.

that's cool, I'm game. if you are well modded I know you will be able to beat my 99, but I would still run with you for fun. my buddy has a 03 max 6MT stock and it is a little faster than my car, but not a lot.
i didnt expect you to beat an I35 that badly... i drove one a few months back prior to buying my TL... i was going to buy one but just couldnt see myself in it unless it was black on black (which it wasnt) anyway, those cars are really fast in my opinion def from a dig could be a huge problem for stock tl's... since you were modded though i guess theres the reason, but none the less good kill

138k doesn't matter, the way I take care of my car it drives better than new............well it will after I change that damn front mount and get those tires, tranny fluid change is more for piece of mind and a little smoother shifting. On these cars 138k on the engine is nothing. fsstyms1 had over 200k on his before he did the switch to a tl-s engine and 6spd and he always said how great his car drove. I don't really race much, but opening it up sometimes is a lot of fun. BTW the I35 really had no chance of stopping me from passing because I was already in 2nd and the rpm's had jumped before he had time to react. from a dig or a roll I have no doubt I would beat an I35, they are slower than 02-03 Max 4AT's anyway(weigh more, same engine).
There was a canadiandriver artice a while back that had the 02 TL-S and 02 I35 in a comparo. They noted how the TL-S was a good deal faster than the I35 both off the line and from highway speed pulls.

"The new engine makes the I35 very responsive when cruising around time, battling stop-and-go traffic, or accelerating onto a freeway. Punch it and this car takes off like a rocket, quickly going up through the gears to take you well into scofflaw county. It jaunts from 0 to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds; that's quick, more than a second quicker than last year's model, though not quite as quick as Acura's 3.2TL Type-S. "
I like how they say so many positive things about it..then they spoil it at the end by pretty much saying "but it's not as fast as the Acura TL-S" HAHA

BTW....that's the same VQ35 motor in the 02-03 Maxima, but the I35 is a bit heavier.

Did you drop in a TL-S engine?
^^^^^^^see my sig, I/H/E/P/S and en engine in excellent condition. Just got my front motor mount delivered today and will be installingmyself this weekend, probably Friday after thanksgiving, can't wait, then my car should respond even better. I know 02-03 Max's are fast. My buddy has an 03 Max 6MT and he can barely beat me and I mean .5-1 CL tops 0-100mph. I think when I change this mount I may even up with him.
