Thumbs down got my check yesterday

The check was for $60.95. Which i believe was for the labor on the ps (BS) flush. So overall it still cost me $206.64 for a diagnosis, oil change and 2 recalls. I have mixed feelings as to how i feel about the result. Yes maybe i could have pushed for more of a refund , but i will just chalk it up to lesson learned. Obviously you cannot trust the service departments at certain dealerships. It makes me appreciate my local garage. When something breaks they may overcharge me but they are never going to fleece me on something i dont need. Its ashame because the SW and SM seemed like nice guys, but i guess that is what good salesmen do.

Don't cash the check, and call Acura again. You should get a full refund, period. You have to play hardball, and not give up.

Why are you giving up?

Did you call ACS back? I would demand 100% of your hard earned money. Not going to lie, but 206+60 = 266.xx that I would want back. Maybe money grows on tree's for you but it doesn't for me.

Please don't chalk this up as experience. Demand what is RIGHTFULLY yours.

Well, it could have been a lot more of an expensive lesson learned. Do some research while your car is still in good shape and find a shop that is reputable in your area.

That's $50 more then I thought they'd give you.. it's just enough for me not to wipe my ass with and mail back but not enough to leave me satisfied. It could always be worse.. but like George Bush said:

"fool me once, shame on..... you ....you fool me you can't get fooled again"

I would still play the innocent role and call ACS and tell them the whole deal. Why let this dealership do this again to another person?? Do you think rosa parks sat in the back of the bus for herself? Just think of all of the other peoples hard earned money you will be saving by a phone call. Who knows, they may still demand the dealership to refund your money, because you did tell them what's going on from the beginning.

Well... at least the dealership in question now has this under their belt. Good thing is on the internet and hopefully someone will read this thread in the future and not get F'd over.

I couldn't edit it in time, . But still, I don't recommend suing the dealership and going nuts, but just give the ACS a heads up on what happened and such. Who knows, they may demand you getting the rest of your money back. I am not sure if you are rich, but is 15 minutes of your time worth $200? Also, its not like you have to deal with them again if the ACS calls them, because I HOPE you would never go back to that dealership after what they did to you.

Thread drift alert and history lesson:

Apartheid: South African racial segregation. Nelson Mandela, head of African National Congress jailed for his anti-apartheid activities.

Rosa Parks: US Civil rights activist. 1955, refused to give up her bus seat for a white passenger. Generally recognized as starting the modern day US civil rights movement.

The reason to keep fighting it is because not only what they did unethical, but it's also illegal. They can't charge you for any recall repairs, per federal law.

Not only can this particular dealership get in trouble, but they can get Honda/Acura in serious shit with the federal government.

ACS helped them, its the SM and GM that can get in-trouble. They can't play dumb which is what I said before because there is no such thing as charging people for a repair or recall. They obviously just wanted to see if they can make it seem like the customer needed to pay. No fault on the OP because the GM and SM are there to help him out, because most people trust them. How can a GM not know about a recall and what it pertains to?? Don't they have some kind of sheet of what will happen/ has to happen with the recall? He obviously knew enough to know about the recall, so why wouldn't he know what is consists of??

Thanks for the history lesson, here's an etymological one:

a·part·heid   [uh-pahrt-heyt, -hahyt] Show IPA
–noun
1.
(in the Republic of South Africa) a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population.
2.
any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/apartheid

I don't think I need to give you a history lesson in return regarding the segregation of whites and blacks in America since you already did it for me

what a shady dealership. I would just keep the $60 and leave it as what not to do next. I don't think it's worth the hassle to keep calling ACS and to continue to duke it out with the dealer for a few more dollars. My money doesn't grow on tree either but I can MAKE money by not wasting time with ACS and the SM and GM.

A simple 5 minute phone call explaining what happened will go a long way...

don't give up, they are basically winning by you not saying anything...that's your hard earned money and you deserve to have it refunded to you

Did the dealership tell you why they didn't give you the full refund?

Call ACS again with an update. Worst comes to worst, you can go to small claims court if you have the time. Maybe it's just me but I'd give up 2 or 3 hours' wage to get my $200 back and some justice served.
