I raced a new evo!!!!

Yesterday in seattle I raced a new EVO!!

We both got on the freeway together and he started pulling on me right away I could see him pulling by like 3...car links at 80 mph..... Damn I figured that would happen.

But then we were side by side at about 80mph and both gunned it, by 130 mph, I was about 1.5-2 car lenths ahead of him. I guess our cars have a higher top end then those littel rice rockets. but Man was he fast off of the line!!!!

He was shocked I beat him!!!

Yeah Morgan, them and the STi kinda die on the top end, where we suck on the low end. Have you done anything performance wise to the TL yet?

No not yet. I plan on a CAI and Those Pro cats. I would love a supercharger but I doubt the $ factor will work right now.

I have raced my buddy in his 06 STI and he cant pull more than 1 - 1.5 cars on me from a 20 roll to about 100 or so. We never got to run on the freeway really, but now he has the COBB Stage 1 Reflash and it definitely gave him an advantage. I want to do an intake and the procats as well and see where I stand against him.

Everytime we race he is just amazed that I stay so close. It's mostly to do with the gearing of the TL's. Our 4th gear will get to just over 120 where as the STI is shifting out of 4th at about 112 or so.

Those Evo's are red hot. Look at a few Top Gear Videos! Maybe the guy was still breaking it in or clue less etc.....

The new evos run very low 12's and high 11's with just a boost controller, and flashed ecu. His car must have been stock.

Yeah, he was definately stock. My buddy has an EVo with intake, turbo back exhaust, cams and a tune. He beats me every time from a roll or stop( I get raped from a stop). He has about 300+ whp. i duno the exact number but its real fast. he ran a 11.8 at the track!

If I am not mistaken, Evos require some serious babying during the break in period. So, if it was brand new.............

<--- wonders how close it would have been with 17" stocks on.

Either way, you've got a nice looking ride.

I've raced an Evo MR 50-110 and he pulled a half a car, then I started to reel him back in by 90 and I would have passed him if there was enough space.

I also raced a regular Evo 8 from about 65-110 and I beat him by a car length. Both were stock...

I think it's possible

Remember, AWD has a lot more parasitic loss than just a FWD setup...

EDIT: I've got a 2003 6 speed CL with an AEM CAI

EVO or STi, they don't have much power on the top end.... I'm not surprised.

Becareful out there... it's summer and lot of cops waiting for you.
