Thanks, it's been a wild ride. Hope you and Ling are doing well. Yeah the car is good, just have a p1456 (fuel evap leak) that I cannot find for the life of me.

I see all the new awesome parts you're making and it makes me want a newer car haha. Would love to come up and see the new shop and everything sometime, I know so much has changed. Maybe when the clutch needs replaced. Or we may visit my wife's cousin who moved there.

Wow, this sucks. I paid him 5k so far for an m90 supercharger kit that was supposed to be done in June. I guess that's what I get for trusting anyone on a forum. I figured since I didn't see anything bad about the guy on the forums it was okay, this just got posted too late to help me.

I was supposed to be done in June of this year, four months ago. In hindsight it was a bad idea, but I was going off of the fact that there weren't any negative posts about him at the time.

You paid him for what exactly? You say m90 s/c kit.. why would it take long to get a m90 blower and some parts that have already been developed for the 3G?

We are good, still crazy busy, the shop is 4x the size now and we have a few employees. Most shop should have some type of EVAP leak smoke machine if you can't find it yourself.

I sincerely hope you have his address. I'd be mighty pissed off and beating down his front door if I was ripped off like that. What a scum bag. Then again, I'm sure Frosty would have it

I also sincerely hope there's no one left on this forum who still sticks up for him. His actions are simply unacceptable.

Additionally, if your response was given solely due to the fact that I "do work" for some members on here then you need to face the facts that I have never once advertised my services. Check my posts and my PM's if you feel like you need to verify things.

Bottom line is this, the OP came in and shared his story with us about what happened. Thankfully, he received some of his money back. However, most of those (including myself) never received a dime back. You can imagine why I feel the way I do about the guy.
No offense to you youngone, but when I was at the 2014 national acurazine meet ppl from Dallas were talking about work you did for them and how awful a job it was. You could just as easily get banned if those ppl post a similar thread. That was his point.

I had Paul do some work for me once and it was a great experience. It seems like lack of money made him use other ppl ' s money to cover his own expenses. Being poor can turn anyone into a shady person.

I'm trying to figure that out right now. This thread definitely got me worried, but I will say Paul has been very polite and answered all of my communications and questions in a timely fashion.

No, I did not sell. But I only stop by this forum once or twice a week. So I claim no affiliation.

I'm always trying to play devil's advocate (more fun). And from my POV, I don't see the infraction that occurred for Paul to be banned here. Actually, I'll plays the odds of probability and say that I bet the OP had all his correspondence with Paul on "the other forum". That's where I would go to find Paul...

I haven't been around the modding forums much lately but in my ~7 years here I'm not sure I have ever seen Paul advertise. There has just always been a very small pool of people that mod these engines / this car to that extent and Paul has been one of them. People know.

All I'm saying.

Negative. As documented in my timeline, I made first contact with Paul via Acurazine, and all correspondence thereafter (or lack thereof) was done through texts and phone calls.

That was kind of the point I was making in my opinion on passing judgment on one experience that was being shared. I agree that people should be honest and charge accordingly, but there was a good chance that if there hadn't been a leak, the customer never would have known everything Luke now knows.

In addition, although some people think that every forum member is a handy motivated wrench turning detail oriented person...I disagree, a lot people love the cars, but they just want them done, they don't want to know how or actually do it themselves. Again, you have to know your audience and the guy working has to be more anal than the guy paying. That's been my experience...because something working and being "fine" is a grey area.

and PPS, if you're going to take the time to PM me twice to berate me for remembering things differently about the sidemarker...you could have taken the time to acknowledge the public and private apology.

Just saying...

Ok. I must have skipped over that detail at the start.

Ok that's two details I skipped. Nvm.

I'm not sure if I follow your logic here. The leak and transmission case modifications were the most recent issues that I discovered (besides the mileage embellishment). All other problems were known months ago, shortly after picking up the car.

You're detail oriented and would notice if things weren't done perfectly.
If he had used that super epoxy sealant stuff and you didn't see any leaking fluid and you were Joe Blow that doesn't pay attention to the little things and was just happy to have a 6MT then this whole ordeal wouldn't come to light, he wouldn't be banned and his reputation wouldn't be tarnished.

I'm not saying it's your fault...I'm saying he fkd with the wrong guy. That's all.

That's a lot of "ifs" and Joe Blow probably doesn't pay $6K to have his transmission swapped out from auto to manual. Even if you are Joe Blow and you spend $6K, you are probably going to be taking a look at the work you paid for.
That aside, he did try and screw the wrong guy.

Again, not justifying it, just saying it was the perfect storm. There's no doubt that he did sub-par work and charged a lot for it but the fact that he returned half of the money and that others have had good experiences with him tells me he has some redeeming qualities too. It's a shame all around...

Quick Reply: I paid $6,000 for a Transmission Swap from Paul. Here’s my story (NOT a happy ending)
