I need input and input on HID bulbs? Which brand is better or which brand does people prefer? I need some ideas. I was thinking of getting Kaixen HID bulb (6500K) replacement, but I still need your opinions. Thank you.

1)Philips D2S 85122+ bulbs (4300k)
2) Kaixen replacement bulbs (6500k)

I picked up a set of Philips Ultinon bulbs and I couldn't be happier. They are rated at 6000K so they are not too blue, and they look great.

1)Phillips (I'm sporting now 85122+) They give off bright to yellowish hue just like brandnew stock halogens but brighter and they never color shift...best thing is YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE AT NIGHT lol no squinting etc. Very Practicle!

2)Kaixen from the opinions and experience given on AZ, they are good reputable brands...the 6,500K are kinda in the white/purplish in color. Looks cool etc. but less lumens and light output.

Need to replace OEM ballast when replacing to KAIXENS bulbs?

I am planning to get Kaixens HID replacement bulb for my 04 TL, I heard that I have to replace my OEM ballast so that will give better quality? Is this true? I thought that Kaixens bulbs was just plug-and-play? Any input might help. Thanks.

The bulbs are an easy replacement.. Everyone in the Groupbuy raves about the look and quality.. never heard of having to replace the ballast to get good output.. I've been debating on getting them. There are tons of pics so you can judge for yourself.

i install my 6000k (from phillips 4300k) with 6000k fog lights and it looks NICE. i would never go back 4300k again. i'm using ddmtuning $10 bulbs 6000k and they are VERY BRIGHT, at first they look kind of blueish but a few hours of use turned them to pure white with a hint of blue (because of the projector). $10 might sound to cheap and not reliable but let me tell you i went with higher brand and nothing came close to ddm tuning bulb. they are so cheap that i have 2 replacement in my trunk. if one burn out i would switch then out and deal with the warranty while using the others. the warranty is great with lifetime warranty and if a bulb burn out, they willl replace BOTH bulb to match light colors.

If money is not a problem, get the Phillips, if it is, get the Kaixen. Plain and simple.

I've had both 5K Kaixen, and 85122+

I like the Phillips 85122+ better.

4300 is stock color,
kaixen is available in 5000 which is a great upgrade- our sponsor excelerate has them or ck online search, no change of ballast needed- plug and play
6000 is ok but you lose white light on the road in front of you.
6500,,useable light on road fading fast!

always replace bulbs in pairs so color/brightness matches- HIDs do increase output and change color with initial burn in period- 50-100 hours use, run them all the time when new to speed break in
and in the last 200 hours or so- they get weaker and color changes pink-purple on startup

Not as many pics as I thought but you get the idea of how they look... https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/kaixen-hid-replacement-d2c-bulbs-new-price-394988/

Aside ebay, I wouldn't even know where to get the Philips bulb or difference in price.

Brand new Morimoto or Brand new Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs (4300K)???

http://store.theretrofitsource.com/i...fbd2b8208fb676

I was look at the website(above) Anyone knows the difference between the Morimoto and the Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs? I heard they are both good, but how come the Morimoto cost only $45 compared to the $95 of the Phillips bulbs? Anyone have these bulbs in their car, please post some pics. Thanks.

I don't have night pics. The bulbs look more white at night.

I have 4300K 85122+ and cheap ebay 4300K lower. There is no doubt, the light output is better with the Philips. I also have ZKW-R lenses, and the blue line at the top of the light spread is more pronounced vs. OEM Osram bulbs.

Kaixen 6000k is perfect. I've had them for a year with absolutely zero issues.

Has anyone here installed the Morimoto's from Retrofit Source.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=126

Came across a review on YouTube. Not sure how much merit to give it as it appears as if it was done by Retrofit themselves.

http://videos.wittysparks.com/id/1832001437

At nearly half the price of the Kaixen's they appear to be a good value. They also have a 3000K one that looks like it would make a good unit for fogs.

If anyone can shed some more light on these it would be appreciated as my search is coming up short via Google. Else I'll probably just stick to the tried tested and reviewed Kaixen bulbs.

Morimoto is an aftermarket bulb. Will color shift pretty fast compared to the 85122+ which don't color shift at all and the Philips are an OEM used HID bulb.

I guess I'll be sticking to the Phillips Bulbs then. No point buying something that's going to color shift after a short period. Not worth cutting corners on HID as you use them everyday. Thanks for the input guys.

I have used both Phillips 85122+ & Morimoto 5000k from Retrofit Source.
85122+ seems brighter to my eyes than Morimoto 5000k by a little but is too yellowish to me.
I prefer Morimotto 5000k.
I know I loose maybe a few hundred lumens but it looks better (pure white).
To me the trade off worth it.
I also have ZKW-R installed and 5000k bulbs make the putple-blue cutoff line more noticeable than 85122+
