I heard a rumor on 07 TL

I don't know if this is true or not. Two different salesman at Acura of Las Vegas told me a couple weeks ago that the 07TL is going to be known/or have an option as the TL Type S again. They both said independently that the car will have SH-AWD and 300+ HP. I certainly hope this is true! I don't know yet, I did a search and have not seen anything new on the 07 TL.

My 04TL NBP/Ebony 6MT w/ NAVI has been PLAGUED with problems. The power steering has gone out, leaked, and/or begun to fail on 4 separate occasions. The car has already had one set of rear brakes and 2 sets of front brakes at 40000 miles. The car creaks, pops, rattles, and vibrates. The brakes are squealinf again. The memory module has had to be replaced on the car. The battery has gone twice. The windows are all scratched from the crappy window rollers inside the car (i know it can be fixed, and I actually have the moleskin kit to put on the window mechanism, just haven't felt like it). A speaker has blown, the rear deck lip spoiler has begun to come off twice. I am sick of this car. Problem is, I can't fit in the G35 Coupe or Sedan (6'3 200lbs), I don't care much for the new BMW 3 or 5 series, the M45 is more than I want to spend. I have driven the new IS350, and I am going to borrow one soon. I'm not sure if I will be comfortable in it as the bottoms of the seats/seat cushion doesnt seem to tilt up enough to provide lateral support for my long legs. It is fast as f**k and I love the interior and exterior. I am also looking at the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade, but I really don't want a Ford or Chevy product, or to spend all that much since I just bought a new home. I test drove the A4 2.0 S-Line 6 spd and the A4 3.2 S-Line 6spd and I did not care for the interior. The interiors reminded me of a 1990's BMW, and I wasn't impressed with the power of 3.2. Maybe it was because I had just gotten done test driving the IS350!

Therefore, after all that rambling, I am having a tough time deciding what to get. I can buy anytime, between now and fall 06. I could trade the TL and break even or have about $1000 equity, so I'm in a good position there. I want to get a new car by October 2006. I want an 07 model, but would settle for an 06. Does anyone know anything new or confirmed about the 2007 model? If the TL is getting more HP, SH-AWD, and a refresh, I definitely want to wait. Someone let me know!

P.S. I havem't posted in a long time. Got so busy at work, built a new home. I am going to start trying to frequent the site again more often!

Let's see, you bought the first year of a new model and had a whole laundry list of problems yet you're considering "holding out" on the 2007 TL which will have a bunch of new stuff in it?

You think you might have learned your lesson the first time around.

BTW, my 2004 hasn't had any problems.

That's a good point. Sometimes it's not a good idea to get the first model year after a major redesign. With you're history you would think you wouldn't want to take that chance again.

I have had my 2004 for almost 2 years and still no problems.

I don't think the TL should get SH-AWD because there would be no purpose of the RL but make the TL RWD and have optional AWD is a good idea. 300+ HP is definite plus for me.

You're right. But, what's the alternative. I have already had 2 2000 323ci BMW's. 1 323cic, 1 330ci, and 1 745i. The 745i was a 2002 and a nightmare of problems. I stuck with the car though, because when it worked nothing drove better (save for a Ferrari) or had the presence, comfort, and style IMHO at the time. Sad thing is, all my BMWs had ALOT of problems. The difference is, the service department at Desert BMW was awesome. The service dept at Acura of Las Vegas sucks. And it is the only Acura dealer in Las Vegas. Closest next Acura is Riverside CA.

I love my TL when it works. I get sick of the torque steer (esp with the 19's), but I like the look and comfort. I'm afraid I won't have near the comfort in the IS350. That's my dilemma, I don't want to a buy a car im uncomfortable in. The TL is pretty damn comfortable for me. So that's where I'm stuck. I don't like the idea of buying another Acura, but the IS350 is looking like my only alternative. And If I don't fit and not comfy, then I'm not gonna buy it.

I think the IS350 looks pretty sweet, especially in your warm climate. That would be on the top of my list if I were you.

salesmen are the last to know, that info is

not saying you made it to be true though, just saying, I can safely say, its most likely maybe 2008 at the earliest

I've yet come across a salesperson that knew ANYTHING beyond their lot inventory or immediate dealer network.

Sometimes even that's a stretch.

The best place for info like that is always forums like this (we're always the first to know) or a web site like Japanesecarfans.com which deals in car news

Yup BS I think. My guess is 2008 will be redesign. However, we'll wait and see. Those are nice features to have no doubt.

BTW, My 04 NBP, 6MT have no problems what so ever except for one mirror memorry. Also have 30K miles still on orignal brake pads. No rattle no butt prints. I think I got lucky with the piece. (Knock on wood)

"A freshening of some kind is said to be in store for the 2007 or '08 TL. One source says it could be fairly extensive and include available all-wheel drive, which we'd welcome. A clean-sheet makeover isn't likely until model-year '09 or 2010 to keep in sync with the design cycle of its Honda Accord parent."

Most salesmen only care about how many cars they have sold for the month and how many of them are "flats".

I feel your pain with the 2004, but can't say I've ever had problems with my car. I hate to hijack your thread, but I was wondering... I see you cleared your headlights. I've done the same. I'm wondering what you're using as bulbs for your turn signals... I'm currently looking for options. Thanks!

my parents buy 2 new LS430's every year. Their sales guy told me I could borrow one for a couple days whenever I'm ready. I just hope it's comfortable. it is hard to gauge on a 30 min test drive.

i used PIIA bulbs I believe, the superwhite. its been like since march 04, so I can't really remember. they look a little blue in the assembly at first during the day, but after burn-in, they fade and blend into the assembly. dont try those silver coated bulbs!! they dont reflect light back into the chrome reflector assembly and are barely visible during the day, and not much better at night! good luck

I would too... But we just traded in our 1.5 year old 2G TL, so I could have a 3G TL. I think my wife will kill me if I tell her I want to trade it again

The salesman at my dealership said the TSX would have a convertible option and CL would be coming back for 2007.

i guess it's just wishful thinking on my part. if acura brings out a SH-AWD 300HP+, or even RWD TL-S or TL at or under 40K, it's going to be hard to beat or pass up!
My lexus sales guy actually knows ALOT of insider information. He scoops me on things way before the auto mags and autospies.com does. he has been very accurate for the last 3 years on the entire lexus line. he informed me there will be a short wheelbase LS500 for 2007, a hybrid option to follow, and then the "maybach" of Lexus sedans with an extended wheelbase, fully loaded with ultra luxury (760Li/S600 type) options that will sell over 100K. We will see if he is right in a few months. I think my lexus guy is an exception to the rule tho. 99.9999999% of the time I know way more about the cars salesman are selling than they do.

My Audi car is like that too. He's totally tied into the scene and knows what's going on and coming down the pipe.

Salesman like that are few and far between.

But me being heavy into the car forums, I've never meet a car salesman that knew something that I didn't hear on the forums.

You're saying you cant fit in a g35 but you can in an IS350? The IS350 is a very small and compact car.....alot smaller interior room than a g35.

Infiniti G has very little head room, very narrow seats, and not much seat cushion for leg support. Trust me, I have tried both. My friend that is 5'11" wasn't comfortable either. My head sat on the glass of the moonroof in both G's.

I know this has been said a million times before, but to add RWD or AWD to the current platform would be a long stretch of the financial imagination. They wouldn't do it for a mid-generation model, too much work. The whole idea of a 5 year car is to get the ROI on the tooling to make the car. Things like headlights and facia are easy to change out at 3 years, hence the "freshening" feature at half-life. To add RWD would take away from rear seat room or trunk room and that would change the car's stats in the market, and make the dang thing even heavier. It won't be a new car till 2009 following the 5-year cycle, maybe only then would we see platform modifications.

Type-S maybe cuz that's just suspension tweaks, and engine tuning, easy enough to do, doesn't require new car.

But to be honest with the car going from 270hp to 258hp because of the new non-cheating testing standards, sound like they've tweaked this engine pretty hard in the first place, making a Type-S on the same block might start affecting driveability and mpg. True the NSX does it at nearly 300hp, but that's DOHC and a different engine, and 89K.

Dealers love to talk sh!t to keep the car in conversation. They don't know squat.

Whatever. Look here and here.

The G35 has MORE headroom and shoulder room than the IS350. (And yes, I'm looking at the numbers with moonroofs). G35 has has 1.5" more headroom, and 2 inches more shoulder room, etc.

My manager is 6'4" and he fits in my G35 coupe just fine without hitting anything. Most people that sit in my G35 comment that is has one of the most comfortable seats they've ever sat in. And if you compare it with the TL, the G35 and TL have the exact same headroom specifications.

I'm 5'11", sat in both and can say the G35 sedan has is roomier. Period. Now if we're comparing the G35C's rear seat with the IS350's that's a different story.

Seriously, guys. ENOUGH about rumors regarding SH-AWD in the upcoming TL. First, it was going to be in the '05, then it was '06, and now it's going to be on the '07?

Get a grip on reality. Have you looked at the chassis of your own TL? Yeah, good luck routing a drivehshaft under there. Not to mention fitting the rear axles, which will require a total redesign of the rear suspension.

Face it. If you want SH-AWD, shell out the bucks to get an RL.

I'm so sick of stupid rumors like this. Sure, it's possible that the technology might trickle its way down into 4th generation TL; that's how the system works. But on the 3rd gen? Get real.

You sure the is 350 is tighter than the g35. You're thinking of the is 250. G35 is pretty tight too.

I agree. The IS350 is way small. I'm 5'10" and it was cramped up front. With the seat back, forget about getting an adult under 5'3" comfortably in the back seat.

Dude, relax. I dont fit in it and neither do my tall friends. You must be short, and your manager must be a really short 6'4 or have really short legs and taller mid and upper section. It all has to do with the way the seats can be positioned and adjusted. I don't fit in the G35, and my friend that went with me didn't either. Noone is bashing the interior size of your G, I just personally dont fit and many I know can't either. G is a nice car. Wish I could fit into it.

I know. Escalade is coming out early next year, and new Navigator also. I just added the Range Rover SPort to my list, but with options is tops out about 60K, and thats a little more than I want to spend. NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS LOL!

yeah the new Navigator comes out for 08 i believe, the new Escalade is coming out spring time 06 for purchase. it looks pretty nice too. but its still a GM product, so I would have strong reservations buying it. although, my BMWs and Acura's haven't been that reliable either, and have been plagued with problems.

I am 6'4" and fit comfortably in the TL. The G35 is much smaller!! When I sat in it I it was very uncomfortable!! The TL has noticeably more room!
