My friend swears that anything done to an 08 TL like installing a CAI will void the warranty because it counts as an engine mod.

Can someone confirm this or prove him wrong? I only have 666 miles on my car and I hope he is wrong....I bought my car a month ago

It shouldn't but if something goes wrong, your dealership might do ALL they can to blame aftermarket parts. Technically, they have to prove that the aftermarket part SPECIFICALLY caused the malfunction to be able to void warranty legally. However, we have the The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act on our side.

Go drive for one more mile.

You'll hydrolock if you go through enough standing water (or a wall of water) that completely submerges the intake. I wouldn't worry about puddles.

The CAI doesn't void the warranty. I had one on my old TSX for years. No issues. Even went through a fairly deep puddle, not problem. I'd go for it. Also, put the burden on your friend of proving to YOU that your wrong on this.

I had called my Dealer Ardmore Acura (PA) and they told me it would void the warranty. I still installed it, but now I am thinking about taking it out. What do you guys think? Its a 3 hour install plus the removal of that rivet.

From AEM's website

Q: Will an AEM intake void my new car warranty?
A: NO. The only time this can happen is from improper installation that causes damage to a vehicle system. If a service technician denies your warranty claim ONLY because the car is modified with an AEM intake system and the vehicle system failure was not a direct result of the installation and use of an AEM intake, please refer him to the Magnusson Moss Warranty act. You can download the Magnusson Moss Warranty act from SEMA’s website at: http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=60128.

Ask someone who has been through it. They can void it if it is directly related, we all know that. But if they want to play games they will. The dealer is always looking for a way out of doing warranty work, they make more money trying to make you pay for anything!
