I hate the door lock pokie stick in my elbow FTL
Is there any way to remove this annoying lock/unlock mechanism?!? It is RIGHT where I like to rest my elbow when I'm driving

I know in the 2nd gen you can unscrew it and use a black rubber plug to fill the hole. Some peeps are pretty conscious about if you get in a crash and your power goes out, having that manual unlock is key. I took mine out because of your exact reason.
EDIT: I suppose having a tan interior might make this plug an eye sore...
V - that's a good call as well quanaman.

I had the same problem
All you have to do is take off the door panel, and unscrew the door lock knob. Cut it shorter, and put it back on. Then put the door panel on and you're in business.
I did it with all 4 of my lock knobs.
here is the DIY with pics. its not rocket science.

I find that thing annoying as well. In the summer with the window open its exactly where I put my elbow. Acura should have been able to do without that as mlost cars dont have one its located near the handle itself.

Yea I hate it too. Can't rest my arm out when I am driving. My great excuse is having a manual. My left arm is usually on the wheel. When I bought my TL, the trim around the driver side lock was cracked and I am assuming the previous owner elbowed it at some point.

my batter has died twice since, because i left the flipping dome lights on. i was able to unlock my car with the key. which allowed me to get in the car to pop the trunk release. if you're in the car i don't you will have that problem of the battery dying on you unless a forsaken accident, which in that case you might be thinking of busting the glass .
now if your keys are locked in the car you have another problem.

also when doing this mod i dont think the door panel needs to be removed. we did this on my friends 2g without removing the panel, u just have to be very precise when screwing the lock thing back in
