I had to "reboot" my acura today

Hey All,

Just got my wife a white/camel TL w/nav. What a sweet ass ride. I put the first 1000 miles on it this past weekend on a Tucson drive. It is such a blast to drive that my wife is wondering when it is her turn!

Anyways, a strange problem occured on my trip back: I was on my blue tooth phone (kick ass) and the nav screen was on the "audio" selection. While your on the phone, it shows you the buttons on the steering wheel for talk and hang up.

Well, after hanging up, the nav was stuck on this screen and became non-functional and aparantly crashed. Afterall it is a computer.

Pulled off at an onramp, shut the car down, and started it back up. Everything worked after that.

That was the first time I ever had to reboot a car

I had to "reboot" the Navi twice during the 3-1/2 years I had my CL-S. Have not had to "reboot" my TL yet...

I've had to reboot my TL once so far after 900 miles. While I was driving along listening to XM, I decide to change stations and noticed nothing would change on the screen. The stations and music were changing, but the screen remained the same. Freaked me out, but it hasn't happened since.

Similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Only difference was that the audio screen would no longer come up. Thus, it was phone or nav (and I was not on the phone). Reboot fixed it.

Acura probably outsourced the software overseas instead of using homegrown programmers.

I had to reboot my '02 because the A/C push button wouldn't work! Shut the car off, turned it on, and all was well.

Go figure...

This is just downright scary. A wide array of functions not working. No reproducible bug. Sporadic Windows ME like behavior.

I hope it never comes to the use of M$ for any engine/tranny functions.

rebooting without stopping

I know in old nav's you can just turn your key to ignition again while the car is in motion. It resets all the electronics including the nav, so you don't have to park, shut off the car, restart the engine.

Does the 04 TL NAV shutsdown if the car is not running to preserve battery like the older 00TL ?

have you tried it ?
