I guess there's hope for Honda...

Yes, I am intorducing myself with a new thread as I am an attention whore. I mean, who checks the New TL owners sign in thread to welcome them anyway? However lets get down to it. The reason for the title is my previous car being a 1997 civic DX 5 speed, which was my 2nd car... was a total nightmare to drive and repair. It leaked oil from every %^$@#^ gasket (Head gasket, VTEC selonoid gasket, distributor, tranny, etc etc...) Broken AC, no power steering, manual windows, radio that can't pass a medium volume... Yeah, a nightmare. I ended up putting a new motor in it. About two weeks ago I got my beloved 2005 Acura TL base model with black leather interior and sunroof (auto .. which I'm okay with considering the upgrade) in AM. Anyhow, I know you guys are going to post this ""

So here's one for now:

Thanks for the welcome to the forum. You guys seem to be readily available for any issues anyone has and are all very helpful. Any other forum I've seen people quick to turn the flame on. Not that I've ever been the victim, probably because I have a sense of tasteful mods. I hope to see more from this forum. I have some plans down the road with this machine.

Congrats Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/myAcura...ToLoginPage.do in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys...

I think I'm going to start my mod plan list:
- HT-Spec Type I Coilovers
- Black Vinyl roof (gloss)... not sure about this yet I'm still trying to get good pics of this on AM.
- Darker tint
- V2 Roof spoiler (black if I get the black roof)
- XXR 521 in gunmetal or matte bronze (not sure of size yet.. but looking to go semi aggressive)
- Type S tails
- Type S front bumper/fogs
- Type S deck lid
- 07+ side mirrors
........... I think that is good for now in that sequence to get started

my friend has a black roof on his AM.
Honestly, i couldnt tell that it was there until he told me.

Black roofs are supposed to be contrasting.

Conrats! You don't waste any time with mods, do you?

I think AM is one of the best colours for this car.

Are you going to remove your pinstripe? Hopefully it isn't painted on like mine. I shall find out soon if it will/can some off.

Thanks for all the welcome guys. Makes a hell of a difference from other forums... I've done my research on what looks good on the TL.. sodaks2k - unfortunately its painted on the guys signature is on the trunk painted on too. Oh well. You just brought to my attention though. Thanks! Lol the pinstripe is bronze, so I guess that solves the color decision for the wheels. Any other suggestions for future more from everyone would be highly appreciated!!

I have meguiars #2 and a wool "hybrid" pad I'm going to try one of these days. I shall start with a white pad to be on the safe side though.I was able to get some of the paint off with multiple, small applications of rubbing alcohol without damaging the clear coat so there's hope!

You should try lacquer thinner before anything man... I did a little research and came up with this:

I've read that thread and multiple other ones. I tried easy off, had a body repair shop use laquer thinner, and the rubbing alcohol. None of them did anything, except the rubbing alcohol after many applications. My dremel is one speed only (35k rpm's) which is way too fast, but I tried it for a second and it worked like this guys set at low (around 5k rpm's). That's why I'm going with my porter cable and meguiars #2.

Will do! No telling when I'll actually get to it. My wife always has a honey-do list that doesn't include car stuff. We just finished building our deck before I left for new Orleans for three weeks. I'm headed home today and I know she needs a break from our 19 month old terror of a son.
