Wow that sucks man. At least if you replace it then if you ever get a flat then you don't have to roll on a donut because you will have a spare RJ in the trunk ready to go.

Now you know why I never installed the A-Spec suspension.

With the condition of the roads here in the NY area, lowering the car is the last thing I'd want to do.
And right now, IT'S POTHOLE SEASON !!

Damn Trip! Don't you just hate that shit?? You know the mayor would argue that you had too much suede in the car, and that's what weighed it down on that pothole dawg! LOL...yeah, get the RJ and throw that old one in the trunk pimp!

Wow that sucks, they've been fixing the Kosciuszko Bridge forever.
The problem is that too many trucks drive over it, everytime they finish repaving, they have to do it all over again!!!

I've hit really big potholes before but I've never bent a rim. Maybe it's just not as good quality at OEM.

If you think NYC is the only place with bad roads in NY, your sadly mistaken! We're in the suburbs of buffalo and we had 3 pot holes half the size of the road on a single road all within 1/2 mile, you had to go onto the shoulder to go around them. Well anyway last year a motorcyclist hit one and had to be mercy flown to the hospital...that's what it took for those bastards to fix the road! But, yea i feel your tax/car pains! I'm afraid to get the aspec kit.

That is def messed-up. I hit a port-hole here in upstate NY a few years back with my 330 BMW. It was night. I busted the tire, bent the rim and I drove home on the flat. LOL.

Cost me $200 for a factory reconditioned rim and $175 for a new tire and that was cheap. BMW factory rims go for $500 +. I went back the next day to look at the port-hole and it was huge. About 3 feet wide and about 8 feet long. Big enough to swallow up a small-compact car. Called the town and complained. They did nothing except fix the hole the following day. :/

Sad fact of living in the north east. Have the same conditions here in Pittsburgh. Penndot likes to shoot blacktop in the pot holes till it looks like a pitchers mound. As a motorist we smooth out the excess. Shame you had to lose a RonJon legend. Hope you can find a machine shop to take a look at it.

Sorry to hear about that. I get off Metropolitan Ave to go home. I'll be sure not to drive in that lane. Anyways, BQE is known for potholes. A few months ago, I was driving east bound on the BQE in the rain also. There's a section where it splits into the Battery Tunnel (left) or 2 lanes to continue on BQE (right). So I continue on the BQE on the right lane and there's a curved road. BAM! My whole front passenger tire came out of place but I managed to get off the next exit and put the spare on. But after I replaced the tire (rim was not damaged) I found out that the knuckle was bent (negative camber & bump steer) and had to replace that as well.

hahah bqe = death to wheels and suspension

the furthest west i'll ever drive my car once i get new shoes is LAG airport..... and thats pushing it..... kosiouscko bridge, is horrible too, but on the bqe once you get near all the other bridges by the contruction .. its f'ing death over there... i took the type-s into the city last week, and nearly had a heart attack driving home over the manhattan bridge and taking the bqe..

thank god there was traffic, so atleast i can drive slow and minimize the damage

You've got s spare RonJon? Someones :pimpin:

that sucks, though, at least you've got another one to roll on though.

Looks like the entire West was beat by that snowstorm. You'd think the snow would cover potholes.

good luck getting the rims fixed. pics would be nice. any curbage?

^ doesnt fit in the spare compartment, you mean. I'd be surprised if the TL cant fit a 19' or 20' wheel/tire in the trunk. might be a hassle during groceries, though.

Looking good. I especially love how the ronJon rims look with the headlights, and the colour is the perfect choice.

There's also a thread here somewhere on how to fix wheel curbage, on the stock wheels at least.

I see something that looks kinda like wrinkles on your wheel. Is that just the reflection of the sun or is that where the rim was bent?

nope the curb rash is going to be fixed at a shop. im gonna have the rims done a diff color.....because im also going to do something crazy to the paint next month. so the color of the new paint is matching the rims. one shop for rims one shop for paint and the color is a color from a car so the color code is going to match no prob...the weird wrinkly look is on 2 rims it never effected them in balancing them in anyway but i noticed it since i received them from ron. no hop no hobble no shimmy, nothing... if it aint broke and my car feels like its on rails im happy. oh and a lug snapped off in one of the pics last month when i got the car back from acura and i was taking the type s rims off to put the legends on. Ahh well! lol

This friday I hit a pothole covered by water. I hate driving in storms but couldn't avoid it. We pay enough taxes, rims are like no expense as long as replacements are available.still sucks

Ahh - the LIE and BQE - I know them well... I drive from LI to downtown Brooklyn everyday - main reason (other than $) I think I'm going to stay with the stockies. I found a set of shoes I REALLY want, but I've got plenty other things to pay for anyway - besides I'm gonna try to get my hands on a 'Stang for a plaything at the end of the year

Where did you go to get the rims fixed? - always good to keep 1 of those spots handy...
BTW - ride's lookin tight!

That sucks to hear about the damage...our roads are horrid up here in Ottawa as well.

Although I'm glad that you had posted pix because those RJ LGs look fantastic! They appear to be 18's but I couldn't quite make out the tire sidewall....

That sucks man, yeah if it's bent enough, it's not worth the trouble. If you can swing the cost you'll be happier with a new rim. Just hope you don't have other chassis problems.

I have said this 10000 times. I HATE the BQE!!! One of the most terrible stretches of road anywhere. The FDR is another one. EVERYTIME I have to take a drive down them, it's full of unpredictable traffic, potholes, expansion jnts etc. I just steer clear of puddles, you never know if there is a killer 1ft. pothole hiding underneath, there's no warning. The bumps are ridiculous, my car always feels like it's in 90,000 pieces by the time I get off it. I always try to bypass these roads anytime I can.

Car looks sick as hell by the way, just clear them lights!

Problem is, they use so much salt on the roads, eats 'em up. What ever happened to sensible salting? LOL. Potholes are growing and so are the taxes. No money to fix shite. Bridges are crumbling, roads are disintegrating. I can't wait to move out of this money sucking state...

yea we know what the problem is and so do the assholes who are laying it all down. its like a g*d damn suspension conspiracy "the car companies have something going on with the government in NY" I plan on consulting with my lawyer about this because i have 16 rims at my shop.....ALL 05 stockies bent or cracked n squared out. 4 of which are type s rims that are mint other than 2 scratches on 2 of them. i spent more money on replacement of tires and rims that it really wouldnt make a diff to spend a couple of dollars to press some issues against the city. I would even bring to light the amount of money spent on suspension parts that were replaced under and out of warranty....and everything else related.
