I am spending about $45/week on gas for a 36 mile round trip

About the same. So it's about $180 a month. Damn gas prices, I loved it when it was only 99 cents a gallon. If only that were the prices today I don't think anybody would nag about gas prices. I mean it would only be like $15-$17 to fillup, imagine that. It wasn't that long ago either.

I just went from a 78 mile round trip each day (hour drive time each way with traffic) to a 12 mile round trip each day (10-15 minute drive time each way).
My gas consumption was decreased by nearly 75% on a daily basis.

Close,,
60 mile round trip commute. Average 27-28mpg and fill up about every 6th/7th work day.... $40 bucks per fill
I find it totally acceptable... W/exception to the $3+ bucks for a gallon of premium...

$45/wk @ $2.65/gal=17 gallons
36x5=180 miles divided by 17 gallons=10.5 mpg
That's WAY too low!

I am only averaging 22 mpg and that's 75% highway. Of course, its sitting in a parking lot highway driving. But man, this gas mileage is really getting on my nerves. I love the car otherwise, but maybe luxury and performance isn't worth it. I drive 22 miles each way to work in Atlanta traffic. Should have held onto my Integra longer. I really expected 27-28 mpg, which I can live with. Maybe I should get rid of it and buy a Civic. Just kidding (I think).

what saves me is 85% of my commute is 65-75mph freeway, hardly ever any traffic issues. The other 15% is 45-60 mph highway with a total of about 4 stop signs/lights. Crap, in the winter/colder months I get 28-29mpg without the AC running all the time.....

I have an 80 mile round-trip to work. My wife has a 70 mile round trip to work. We get gas about every 3 days. She tries to work from home twice a week, so that cut her gas expenses pretty much in half. (She's the one that drives the TL most of the time)
At her last job, she used to have to drive to all her client's offices. So when we had a 2G TL, she averaged about 35,000 miles a year on it.
We both enjoy driving, so we don't mind the commute. I'm used to SoCal traffic, so Pacific NW traffic is a breeze.

HOLY CRAP! and I thought Chicago gas prices were bad! (last time I heard, Chicago was still first in the country for highest gas) I live in the suburbs, so it's not as bad, but man...i'm really thinking about a hybrid or something down the line....or maybe the Tesla
