How well does the Air Conditioner work?

You guys in Florida or So. California have any comments about the air conditioning in the TL? It hit a high of 75 in Atlanta this past weekend but still no need to crank the A/C. Just wondering how it will hold up in the summer.
Thanks.

Just have to wait and see. In my 96TL, when you started the car, if it was the least bit warm out, the AC came on with high blower, but the temp was where you set it, of course. In the 04TL, the blower has never come on, but it hasn't been that warm yet and the car has always cooled down. Only thing is on the 96 I set the temp at 73, but in the 04 it is set at 70 for the same comfort level.

So far, I would say the TL runs the cabin a bit on the coolish side, but the pogramming of the climate control system is FAR FAR FAR superior than that on my 2002 A4!

I've been driving around LA the last couple of days in the afternoons, sunny days with temps near 90, and the interior was very comfortable, with the fan probably around level 2 or 3 in AUTO mode.

My old Beemer would cycle pretty noticeably inside as it struggled to maintain the "coolness".

Cools off and Warms up very fast. One problem though, the divers side center vent barely blows air when on high. The Right center vent blows hard. Any one else have this problem?

Mine seem to be about the same. The vents near the windows will affect the center vent air flow, as will the mode selected or if the AC detects you need more heat than air, but with all vents open and the mode arrow pointing to the face, both seem equal.

Thanks

I can't wait for it to warm up here in Atlanta. Spring is the best season fluctuating between 65-80 degrees. The A/C is supposed to know which side of the car the sun is on and adjust the blower accordingly, if equipped with Navi. Does this really work?

I've noticed that air through the center vents is very weak at normal temp settings.

Try this:

- Start with system in Auto with the temperature at about 70 and both side vents on the dash open.

- Hit the Mode switch so that you manually feed all air to the face vents (upper arrow).

- Now turn up the fan speed, all the way if necessary, to get some air to come out the center vents.

You'll find that even though the system is making quite a bit of noise, very little air is coming out of the center two dash vents, with much more air coming out of the side vents. I find this very frustrating when just going along with the system on Auto (on a cool day with the heater running a bit) and would like some fresh cool(er) air on my face. While I can always turn in the side vents to get the fresh air, I'd rather not (so that the next time I need the heat I don't have to turn these vents away again because of hot air in my face).

Now for the weird part: Turn down the temperature to 65 or lower. Doing this causes MUCH more air to come out of the center dash vents!!! I thought that in manual mode, I should be able to set the air flow to any location no matter what the temp setting is. Why is it switching the vents around at lower temperatures? Where is all the air going when the temp isn't turned down (it sure makes a lot of noise - it has to be going somewhere)?

The center vents must feed the backseat vents. I will try to turn those off and see if there is a difference.

Dont forget the little dial below the vent! You can open and close the vent individually I'm pretty sure yours must be closed.
