I like the sound of those...and I understand what you mean by not changing out the wheel before fully understanding the car and its turning radius (which, after research, I've found to be quite poor). Thanks alot!

I know a company in Southern California that can make custom Billet grilles/honeycomb/etc. etc. Just give them specifications, talk to them a bit, and you're good to go. The owners of Fine Line Motoring told me about them, and I can get in touch if I wanted to. But if that doesn't work, I can work the guys at Galpin Auto Sport if they can custom fabricate one if it isn't too much trouble, (my father and I know Bert Boeckmann, owner of Galpin Dealerships), and I'll see if they can do something...Because I think a new grille would set any TL apart from the rest.

"I plan on going to many important events with my father, many job opportunities, and interviews and all that such"

PLEASE TELL US... what are these "important" events!?
what job opportunities are you going to be going to at the age of 15? or is that for when you get out of college, and in that case, I DOUBT you will still have the car by then... you will have either wrecked it or gotten a new car. (you really don’t need a $30-40k car to drive your daddy to the airport or to get a job... not to mention when you go for a job interview, WHAT DO EXPECT, they are going to look out the window and say "HEY HE DRIVES A SWEET CAR DUDE," "DUDE, LETS HIRE HIM CUZ HE DROVE A TL TO THE INTERVIEW".

ok... just out of curiosity...

Where do you live? where all these 10 million dollar houses are and all the kids are driving 911's? I really don’t care what you say... a parent GIVING their kid a car worth about $30k+ about $10k in mods, is stupid... the kid obviously has no sense of earning anything, and doesn’t care nearly enough for his possessions.. so when he gets drunk at the little rich kid party and wrecks his TL, he doesn’t care, he just gets mommy and daddy to buy him a new car.

NOW, IM REALLY NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE, I DONT NEED AN ENEMY HERE, JUST VOICING MY OPIONION. but hey, if your parents will buy you a TL... get the best you can get. just get brand new... its not that much more and it smells good too!

It really does depend where you live. In San Jose pratically every kid is driving a new car that is worth 30-40k. There is no need to judge him because his parents are well off. It's understandable that if you guys have been living in less affluent areas that this may be a shock to you that a kid is driving around a 30-40k car, but living in San Jose and La Jolla its about the norm.

springs are probably the least comfortable because there is no dampening or height adjustability short of chopping the springs. struts are the better because you can adjust dampening (how the suspension responds to bumps) but there is no ride height adjustability.

I'm not exactly sure about individual springs and struts becaause i'm not too interested in them. sorry. but you can get either separately. Tokico is a good brand.

Coilvers are the best overall but you need the dough for that. Coilover kits have parts that are designed to work together in unison to provide the best combination of performance and ride. ON this site several people have the Tein SS coilover kit, and you could also get the EDFC (electronic dampening force controller) which will let you adjust dampening on-the-fly while you're inside the car rather than getting out, popping the hood and adjusting them manually. people say the Tein SS is a great drop and improvement in handling while retaining nearly stock ride quality. ask Accuratein (think thats his name) he has a 3G TL with the SS setup.

the ride will degrade with most performance-oriented suspension modifications especially if you have low profile tires. 19" inch tires on a TL pretty much guarantees a thin sidewall. My brother's MR2 rode on 215/40/16s in front: thin sidewall. during freeway construction (the parts where there is a new batch of asphault, but it isnt leveled off) everytime he hit the bump it made this awful thunk-thunk sound and the whole car shuddered.

In general its the tire that affects ride quality the most. then the suspension.

THANK YOU. I have a 19 year old cousin that once in a while, takes a spin in his dad's 2005 S600 with 19" Zenetti Fives on it. 0-100 is super smooth and fast, yet so damn quiet its scary. no way his dad is ever handing that thing over to him, and NO he is not spoiled, he is the hardest working, selfless teenager, no, person I have met, used to go over to his house and he could NEVER chill because he was doing homework (weekends) Almost rude, if you ask me.

and by the way, there's a thread about how the new car smell is bad for your health.

I have another question.....exactly what states allow you to drive when you are 15 ?? I was under the impression you had to be 16 to get even a learner's permit.

who the hell would know what car you drive when you go to a job interivew?

just cuz hes 15 doesnt mean he shud deserve all these flames on "too young to own the car, get a cheaper one instead u spoiled brat". if u were in his position where it seems like his family has alrdy established good financial stability, dont tell me ur gonna say no for a new TL and ask for a civic instead

^ Another regular dumbass that frequestns the forums?

Iakonafuji: looks like you got your head straight. Half the "matured" individuals giving you financial advice and berating you for getting a Tl as a first car, are probably pissed off that they didn't have a tenth of the intelligence you did when they were 15. Just for reference though: it'd probably be wise not to mention your age when posting a thread on this forum - seems to bring all the trolls out from some crack in the wall. Funny thing is (just taking a cursory glance at the posts above) a few of the trolls are 1. teenagers themselves & 2. own TLs.

Just do me one favor - make sure you appreciate the TL - im sure you've browsed this forum, but I urge you to read some automotive reviews on it, and research the car well. Its a fine automobile, that offers a near perfect blend of sport and luxury. I myself have a first generation TL - 10 years, and 145k miles later, it runs PER-FECT!

As far as the rims and bodykit - both looks classy and subtle (assuming RonJon).

vishnus... your a fag... why are you going to start talking shit about me?

Anyway. I would like to apologize to Iakonafuji, as I was not the one who posted the comments about you. My brother got on my laptop and was surfing the forums.

I do think that you should learn how to drive before you mod the hell out of a car.

Iakonafuji, congrats man u chose well- i tend to agree w/ somebody else that had stated you would be better off in a E46 3-Series however...regardless you'll be dropping in a few grand 6-7 at least. Good luck with the car

Thanks for the advice regarding posting my age...it's already brought upon some negative opinions about me, but I don't regret it whatsoever. Anyways...that's great to hear about your 1G TL! Very reassuring... Hope all is well on your part.

@CaliChris517...If that really was your brother, may I suggest that you not let him post on this site? Ever? It could make others think its you and give them a bad opinion...as it did with me.

@IGotoCostco: Thanks for your constant positive advice in my thread...if there was a rep system, I'd definitely give you positive rep! So it looks like I'd get the best drop/ride comfort with 18" Wheels, nice tires, and a coilover setup? Well thanks again...I appreciate everything and all the advice you've given me.

Thanks for proving my point - you aren't the brightest spark around

Iakonfuji - yeah, the 1G TL is great, but I've got an 06 S2K to satisfy my speed thrills.
