How to reset ECU?
#4
- disclaimer-info based on gen2-
the alternate method is pull the Clock Backup fuse- on gen2 its fuse #8 in the passenger footwell area
If you pull the battery cable terminals and clean them- that resets the ECU and as noted before- a good time to make sure of the radio/nav security codes is BEFORE you discon the battery
If you do the fuse method- no issue with radio lockdown

yes- any loss of power thru battery removal or pulling the fuse which cuts the power to the ECU will cause a reset
It takes a few weeks for it to relearn things, and if you need to get a smog test soon- there is a procedure to train the unit quickly so it will allow testing.
As noted before- use nothing extra in the gas tank- let it learn normal with the new mods

SOME people had problems with their batteries, but that's not a direct indication that it's bad....
granted it might help with your LEDs, but really i doubt you'd get any problems with the stock batteries either unless you were trying to light up your car light a xmas tree...
only reason i say this is your battery is covered under warranty, and by swapping it out, it's just another thing out of your pocket that you could've easily taken advantage of with Acura warranty instead.
oh well it's up to you. make sure you have your nav and radio codes memorized.

YEAH!! Unhook positive and negatives on the battery. Remove battery bracket. Pull Battery out, Reinstall Battery, Reinstall Battery Bracket, Rehook Postive and Negative sides of the batteries.
Now if you wanna relocate: Aznbo187 did a good detailed instructional available at

Naw, it's really simple. Just disconnect the old battery, and remove it. Put the new battery on the base, and either use the original J hooks and bracket, or order the rubber universal Braille mount. If you order the universal, as I did, you will have to cut an inch off the hooked end and reform the J. Easy to do with a pair of vice grips. If you don't, they are too long and may hit your hood when you close it.
I like the universal because it is rubber, and lessens the chance of overtightening, which would void your warranty.

xoulu you don't need a new battery for LED's - they draw a lot LESS power than the conventional lights. You will change the weight distribution a little and that's good. You'll lose some decent amount of weight too (another good thing). But you're not gonna see much difference.
Except for a few mods, the differences are more additive from multiple mods. CAI plus TB Spacer; Springs plus RSB plus Tires; Light Weight Battery plus Boat Anchor Removal plus Light Weight Wheels; etc.
Resetting the ECU will NOT mess up your car. All it does is reset a few parameters back to stock (or closer to stock). Then the car will attempt to optimize those few parameters by "relearning" what the car is doing in certain situations.

Just for reference...
The nav and radio codes on a lot of our TL's are located on the side of the glove compartment when open. Once open look on either the right or left exterior side and you will see a bunch of stickers with numbers.
