Retail price for everything Ive done to the car is a little under $7000. Actual price for stuff Ive done because I know people and do things myself, a little over $3000.

One time at Rita's I heard a young boy say to his mom "mommy that man has all flat tires, he needs air in them" lol. I guess the 245/30/R20s are kinda low profile.

hehehe we got all kinds of fast food over here in the southeast. If you drive across the country you notice this phenomenon as the blue signs are always filled with franchises.

You can not "invest" money in a depreciating asset.

A more accurate title would have been how much money have you pissed away modding your TL.

This is an old thread but there are few too many post like this one.

'To invest' has more than one definition!
i.e "To spend or devote for future advantage or benefit: invested much time and energy in getting a good education."

Point being; This is a hobby for many of us. Like diving, rafting, boating, skydiving, clubing..lol(talking about mucho $$) etc...I say spend what you want/can to make the most out of our hobbies.

You don't know at the beginning that you will spend 7k on diving in the ocean looking a beautiful coral. BUT guess what! It doesn't take long, upgrade here upgrade there, better underwater camera there.

Point being...get off folks ass for money spent on what makes them happy. We are having fun doing what we want
to do. We are not hurting anyone and we are fulfilled with our accomplishments....THAT'S the return of our investment.

Oh and hello everyone. First time poster, long time reader. I registered when I finally bought my first TL.
There is a LOT of talent here. Great job guys.

An update to my post #46 (I can't believe it's been nearly a year!! Time flies)

I did everything I listed there of course. Instead of S-Techs I did Tein Basics too so in all since that post I have put in at least $7000 to the TL. Way more than I wanted to spend initially.

According to my original plans of how far I wanted to mod this car I am unofficially DONE with all major mods. A disclaimer is that I DO get bored after long durations of time so I might find myself switching a few things around within a year haha. The only 2 things that really tempt me at this point are an ATLP exhaust and some 19" wheels staggered with a lip.....Hmmm maybe one day.

Bought my 3G in June.

I've spent $5.2k on parts. Another $1.2k on labor/maint.

Precat deletes and Ingalls rear camber kit will bump that up a bit.

I really havent spent that much, but I've only had the car for a few months.

tl-s tails & rear side markers...285
a-spec spoiler kit....640
tint...200

total...$1125

I also have a few things that were from my past cars that I was able to put into the TL
usaspec ipod adaptor...100
alpine sub setup...700

so counting those,
total is $1925

I really dont want to drop the car since i know it will scrape so the only big thing i might want to do would be maybe aspec rims, so maybe around 1000 more.

I cant justify doing engine mods since 1) its a TL , 2) you dont get much gains for what you pay, and 3) i dont want to affect reliability
