how much do u have invested in ur 3G TL

i have noticed a lot of us 3G TL owners have insane amounts of money invested into our cars.

I was jus chatting with my younger cuzzin who just turned sixteen and got his new miata and he loves my car especially after he seen everything done. he then asked how much all this cost and n i began calculating in my head. after adding up a few things i decided to stop. Damn i have too much into this car.

Purpose of this post is to get an idea of how much you have invested into ur cars.
Rules:
Do not post what the car costed you.
maintenance or services done to the vehical dont count.
include music, exhaust, intakes, exteriors mods, interior mods ect..

I bought the car with comptech springs, 18 inch a-spec wheels, a-spec body kit and mirror tint (I would have done all of that too). So that would be about have been about $1500 (considering the traded up wheels and that I probably paid more for the car than a standard TL with nothing on it). I myself bought the stock 17s and put snow tires on them - $800 (Michigan necessity). I bought the USASpec iPod adaptor - $100 (best thing ever). That's it. There isn't anything else I want to do. So all in say about $2400

Sell it off. All the parts I have are spare parts. I don't use the same parts from the car. Most the parts I purchase from dealer or ebay.

Me too. I did a garage section on one forum I am on and it was around $60,000 including the cost of the car. So deduct aprx $30,000 for cost of car new...and you are at around $30,000 in mods alone. Too extensive to list right now though...

I actually have a spreadsheet with all the purchases and future projects on my car. Although I guess that's expected since I am the financial analyst for my company.

Mods/stuff done:
Icebox CAI intake = $75
Stage 3 exhaust $60 muffler +$120 install= $180
Escort 8500 = free as a gift
Tint = $280 w/ moleskin
Ipod accessories ( Car charger and cable for aux)= $20 on ebay
Moto Razer Charger $19

Sub total of mods done: ~$574

Future mods in this order with completion by June 08:
Nav2go= $120+$50 slimline DVD player= $170
P2R spacer + gasket= $120
UR Pully = $180
Dice kit = $210 with harness

Subtotal of future mods to be done = $680

Grand Total : $1,254 (excludes new wheels and suspension mods to come next year) If forced induction does arrive for our cars.. I will liquidate my stocks to get that as well.

I take it I am one of the other two you mention? Dude...you have never even seen my car as I have never posted a pic or stats here on this site whatsoever...lol. Boosted....cats....CAI....two sets of A-Spec rims....three sets of tires (autox slicks...winters...and summers) custom carbon fiber, carbon fiber hood, rotora's all the way around, comptech exhaust AND greddy exhaust (waiting on the latter to be complete), switchblade keys mod, TL-s tails and smoked rear markers, proprietary engine mods I cant list as they are still under development, ect ect. Trust me....I have a LOT of money in this car. Its one of those things that just happens one purchase at a time and you find yourself there. Wasnt really planned whatsoever....just happened. A matter of fact...make that 4 sets of tires and three sets of rims....cause I have a set of 20" rims and tires to boot that I never use anymore....too much of a power robber for me. I just didnt feel like listing everything I have done to my car and get into the "whos di-- is bigger" contest....they tend to bore me greatly and dont seem classy. I think about the only one on here that has seen a list of my mods and pics of my car is ChillDog as we know each other outside of this forum somewhat. And as Chilldog would probably tell you...if they make it for this car or I can get it modified to fit this car....I do it....lol.

Did you seriously pay $500 for an AEM CAI with install? Lets say $350 for the intake (very high price) and 3 hours to install (should take WAY less than that). With those assumptions that is $50 an hour to install the intake. Are you kidding me? I would say you got ripped off. I think that people shouldn’t list labor because the guy who does it himself would have saved a lot of money. Especially at the rate that you’re paying, your labor alone must be in the thousands. That labor cost would never be reflected into the sale of the car either. This is just for fun anyways. I think this is slowly turning into who can inflate their costs/price the most and who has wasted the most money.

That's an oxymoron because in order for it to be an "investment" there would need to be some possibility of gain.
