How many times a day do you bring your car to red line? I do it about 8 times a day. It’s such a rush. Do you think that's to much?

In fact at times it can hurt your qtr mile run to shift beyond into the red where it strains to maintain power but instead holds you back a little. I shift at 6,700 so I'm higher in the band in the next gear. I hope to find out what sift point works best in the 5AT when we take them to the track.
Norse396 get yo ass to the track mang

Right, it may hurt the engine, but IMO it should help your acceleration if you intend to upshift and keep speeding up in the following gear.
When just playing around the red line RPM ranges, it really waste your fuel and only obtain the declined power, except the loud and roaring engine sound.
However, if you're going to shift it up, for example, from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, the red line in 2nd gear would enhance the initial RPM in 3rd and help your acceleration. My 0.02.

Since having my 04TL in Oct, I only redline once by 2nd gear... so bad... :cop:

[QUOTE=WickedWiz]I've actually hit the rev limiter a few times...it's hard to hear the engine with the stereo volume at 35!
Ive had the same problem! I wonder when a TSB is comming on making the engine louder so I can hear it over the din of THE WHO at 35!

I'm not a TL owner yet, plan on it in 05, however I've owned two Hondas in my life, a 1987 Civic Hatchback Si for ten years, then a 1997 Prelude Sh till now. I used to rev that modified Civic to redline many times daily for ten years..up to 150,000 miles with no ill effects. A minivan finally killed it by rearending me at a redlight. The first four years of life on my Prelude I used to run it hard...well into redline to just before fuel shutoff or even into fuel shutoff several times per day. I've mellowed out quite a bit since I'm 39 years old now, but as far as the engines being able to take it for many years...I see no problem with that. Granted the TL is a six cylinder and the Civic & Preludes were 4, but Honda/Acura engines are so well built that redlining daily is not a problem for wear. I won't comment on fuel economy and 1/4 mile times, shift points, etc...just the wear issue.

But, you have to look at power and torque curves and apply the known RPM drop between gears to see the best shift point. Sometimes it is better to go past the peak HP curve if the shift drops you into a better fat part of the next gear. (I don't know if I'm making that point clear. It would help if I had an actual graph). For example: if the rev drop is 1,000 RPM between 2nd and 3rd and the motor is still making 250HP at 6,500 RPM (past peak) but a shift at 6,200 RPM would drop the revs to 5,200 where the HP is only 210HP, then you are better off keeping the RPMs higher and going past the peak.

It's slim pickings for DVD-As where I have looked. Especially for Classic Rock.
