Besides burning more fuel what other negative effects does flooring the gas pedal have on our cars? Just wondering because I find myself doing it often. (06 TL auto with 100K miles). Thanks :-)

Our engines are made to take it all the way to redline.
Honda engines are High revving machines!!!

if you constantly run it to redline you will most likely need to do your services at much shorter intervils and no that is not good for your motor to run up to WOT like that all the time.......

Nothing wrong with redline!!! I have redline daily on my stick shift 2000 Accord and S2000 and never had any issues. Nothing ever broke or warned engine related. Just burn gas faster and need to change oil more often. I dont see why you cant redline the TL as its still a Honda engine.

i wouldnt say redlining is really bad for the engine/tran ... but would you buy a used car that has been driven hard? probably not, and the reason for that is because it puts strain on all the parts of the drive train, which will cause the car to wear down faster. but unless you are planning on keeping the car for more than 10 yrs i doubt u will have any issues

As long as you are going to give the car lots of TLC meaning changing fluids more often especially transmission fluid along with filter and engine oil with proper viscosity and a good quality oil

Redline is one thing, bouncing off the revvlimiter is another.
Also, others chime in on this but, maybe it's Angkor idea to ease off the throttle just before your automatic shifts to lesten the load on the TQ.

Possible dangers of redline too often...

^I wasn't trying to call you a dumbass on the last gif, but if you cause something like this to happen for redlining so often, then yes, you are a dumbass.

try to keep it 500rpm under redline to avoid out of spec valve contact with piston-not likely but the potential is there

be very aware of the stress you are putting on the trans 2nd and 3rd gear--which carry a weakness from gen2
keep up the trans fluid change - a 3 qt drain and refill once a year, or better!

cops see you launch off the line and run thru the gears like that- may consider it `exhibition of speed`
