I was about to start a thread about this but I found this one.

I knew about interior rattles in these cars before the purchase. A lot of consumer reports complained about it.

The rattles are starting to bother me now. I have driven/been in many different cars and NONE had more rattles than my TL. Even the crappy work vans we have at work rattle less! I think it's rediculous that a car that cost $35,000 new has this kind of build quality.

I have several but the ones that I can locate that bother me are:
-Driver side door panel
-Glove box
-Something behind the instrument cluster.

I hate dealing with dealers to get rattles fixed. It is 30 minutes away and they will probably not be heard when I try to show them.

I just decided to turn on the music and try to fix some of them myself when it gets warmer.

My main one is the shifter area rattles. My passenger side door as well. I'll try to take out the sunglass holder.

I have the drivers side window rattle.. had it since new. I will try the felt tape in the window groove.

Had rattles under dash, above floorboard, fixed with weather stripping on guide pins.

I've consistently had two major rattles:
1. Driver door mirror - slid a strip of cotton in between door and mirror out of sight and haven't heard it since, but I bet I'll have to do the same thing to the passenger door some day too.
2. Sunroof - haven't figured out a solution yet.
I bought mine used, not certified, so getting rattles fixed under warranty is out of the question.

Got a rattle under the hood every time the fan cuts on, found the rattles under the car (rusted cat heat shield and some idiot ziptied the skip plate because they broke the bolt off) and have two on the back seat from the car seat latch system... Annoying

I've got plenty of rattles too and they annoy the heck outta me. The major one for me is the glove box area. I haven't pulled everything out of there yet to determine if it is the glove box assy or something rattling inside the glove box. Also, does everyone else have a HUGE gap between the glove box and dash when viewed from the side on the passenger side when the door is open? The driver's side is nice and tight, but there's like an 1" plus gap on the pass's side.

I've noticed the shifter rattle for me is the silver bezel around the gear shift, whether it's the entire bezel or the little key hole plug that rattles. I can usually move it slightly and it goes away. Just my .02.

Like most other people, it's high on my list this spring for trying to rattle proof my car. I thought for about 2 seconds about putting a small sub in, since I've always had a system in every car I've owned to this point, but with all of the rattling I have currently, I couldn't imagine what it'd be like if I put a sub in. I'd drive myself into an overpass with a smile on my face.

I don't know if my gap is that big, but there is a little wider gap on the left(driver side of my glove box cover). I see it everytime I drive it.

The only rattle I have is from the subwoofer (2005, 70k miles) but its REALLY annoying since any song with a decent amount of bass makes it sound terrible..

I've pretty much given up on curing the rattles, it's just part of the car's nature unfortunately. I just hate the fact that when I hit any imperfection in the road, the entire car *sounds* like it's twisting and breaking apart.

My 06 has rattles when going over uneven roads. Not sure if it was there before or after I installed Tein S-Techs...it sounds like it's coming from somewhere near the front passenger wheels. Is this common or should I be more concerned about it? No rattles whatsoever on smooth roads.

Yeah I gave up as well. Sometimes I have the center speaker rattle, sometimes I don't. It's moody. When it gets warmer, I'll try the fix for it. That one doesn't bother me as much as the rattle I have coming from the passenger side somewhere. It almost sounds like it's coming from the B-pillar, but I can't narrow it down when I'm driving (it's a far reach LOL). One of these days, I'll have my buddy drive so I can sit over there and mess with it.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but this rattle issue is driving me up the wall as well. I was about to post a new thread but decided to do a search first. And WOW, based on the number of threads I'm definitely not alone here. I'm with about half of you that say they love their TL other than all the rattles. Luckily (I guess....), my rattles seem to be isolated to just the dash. I have at least three unique rattles comming from the stereo and glove box areas. They each have their own unique sound and frequency. When all of them are rattling at once it's like a damned hellish symphony. It's drives me up the friggin wall. Anyway, I'm going to tear into it soon. I think in many cases, rattles are fixed by simply moving things around a bit. I figure I'll get to know my dash up close and personal and tear some things apart. One things for sure; If I keep up the current method of hitting the console and dash with every rattle like I've been doing, I'll soon bust the thing apart. I'll have to repost if I have any success.

Perhaps this thread will help with the rear speaker rattle:

Here's another for the rear deck:

This thread may help with door rattles:

So I tore apart my dash per this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/comptech-short-shifter-install-pics-3g-garage-086-a-590326/

There wasn't anything visible causing rattles (but I guess there rarely is). But as I loosened screws I noticed that they weren't really very tight. I completely removed the stereo, console, side trim and shifter moulding. I spent some time dinking around with the stereo, then afterward, put everything back together. This time I tightened everything up really well, just to the point prior to stripping threads. Two of my three rattles are gone. I'm not sure if it's because I simple moved things around or if it's because things were a little loose. Either way, two weeks later in multiple temperatures, still two of the three are gone. The other occurs when the glove box is closed. If I open the glove box it comes back. Weird. Gonna keep messing with it and see if I can get that one to disappear too
