how many days can your car sit
If your worried about it just disconnect the negative and the battery should hold charge. Only problem is no alarm. You can let it sit for a while. I let mine sit for a little over a week. It worked when I got home.
I've had my 12 year old Pontiac sit outside for months at a time, and it still started right up when I went to drive it... If GM/Pontiac can do it, so can Honda/Acura... I've even had it sit out in the snow for a month, with a 6 year old Costco Battery, and it also still started right up...
I only ask because the draw on TL's when off is extremely high and there are many complaints about the car dieing within 4 days and for some a week. 4 days appears to indicate an HFL draw while 7 days is standard (dealer agrees). The 12 year old pontiac should be fine since the draw is probably a tenth of the TL's. Many people have come back from vacation to find a dead battery. Mine last 4 days but I'm taking it back to the dealer. They said it had no draw when it was tested.
When you disconnect the negative terminal, will the radio need to have the code re-entered? I drive once a week so this has been a huge problem for me. I'm looking into a second battery installed in the trunk or a battery disconnect switch.

I've heard others have had this problem. I've been gone for 2 weeks for work and it starts right up. Though with my Honda prelude that I installed an aftermarket radio I think 9 days is pushing it. If you've got a garage I'd put a trickle charger on it but I don't like leaving any electrical stuff on while I'm gone so I trickle charge every night for a few days before I go on vacation, for my prelude.
Mine sits for months and no problem. Last year it sat in a garage at our house from mid November to mid January as it isn't used in inclement weather. It was only driven 5,000 miles last year and most of that was in the summer months.
this depends on weather you have the factory battery installed and the condition of the car. IF the car is in good operating condition (only drawing 20 miliamps when off), it should be able to last at least 2 weeks with the factory battery and about a month or 1.5-2 months on aftermarket depending on the type.
If your car is drawing more than 20 miliamps (biggest cause HFL which raises it to 243 milliamps) means it'll last a day or two on factory at most and maybe a month at most on aftermarket.

I mounted a trickle charger near the battery. Plug it in when I'm not going to drive it for over five days. I'm not sure when it started, but a few winters ago, I carpooled with my wife and after sitting for about a week, I had to jump it. I got tired of it so now I just plug it in.
i went to Honduras for like 3 months and it sat in the garage. Told my mom to turn it from time to time but she never did it. The day after I came back it fired right up.
When you refer to after market batteries, are we talking mainly optima yellow tops and the like? I don't know how we can have range from 4 days to 3 months on the same car.
AVS007, which battery are you using?
CSMEANCE, are you sure .020 milliamps is the standard draw on a TL? the dealer said that .5 milliamps is standard. Do you have nav as well?

Also, when talking numbers, you are putting the decimal in the wrong spot... CSMEANCE said 20 milliamps, or 20mA... This is not the same as .020 milliamps...
20 mA = .020 Amps or .020 A.
Similar to the common mistake of saying 0.02 Cents, which is incorrect, as it should be $0.02 or 2 Cents, not 0.02 Cents.
I think your dealer is clueless tho... 7 days is not normal. And if Acura can't design a car to not kill it's battery in 7 days, then Acura engineers are retards. But like I was saying... 7 days is not normal.. Your dealer is just lazy and doesn't want to fix your car.

Because the ones that work after 3 months, is exhibiting normal behavior... The ones that die in 3-4 days, is experiencing an abnormal electrical draw. Most common cause is the hands free system software stuck in an infinite loop, causing the processor to be pegged at 100%, which causes the processor to never enter low-power state...
My car is at the dealership right now for excessive parasitic current draw (my stock battery is toast after less then two years). My service adviser told me that for an '08 type-S a 50 mA current draw when the car is off is Acura's tolerance. The owner's manual says the the stock battery has a 72 AHr capacity. If the battery were fully charged, the car should be able to sit for 60 days before depleting the battery.
So, I dropped my car back at the dealership. I told them to retest the draw and pay attention to the HFL as I've heard from other owners that this tends to be an issue. They tested it and said they saw a little more draw than normal from it. I had them disconnect it since I never use it and my car has not falled below 12V since. There was clearly more than a little draw but I'm just glad to finally be done with this. I would recommend anyone with a dead battery in less than a week have them disconnect the hfl to see if that is the culprit. If so, see if you can have them replace it under warranty/ since it's a known issue. It's worth a shot but chances are they won't replace it for free. Thanks for all the posts.
