How long did you wait for your car???

I was just wondering how long people waited before they bought their cars. Did you wait for a specific set-up? (e.g. navi/6mt, specific color) or waited on the year to see if more perks came with newer models. Random thought came across my mind when I started to see more and more 3g's driving around. Too be totally honest I didn't even know I was getting the car or what it looked like because it was a gift from the parents. So i was surprised when it rolled up. So glad I went this route instead of the 2005 g35. I guess I also got lucky to get the NPB-NAvi- 6mt- ebony interior. SOrry for rambling just wanted to hear people's stories!

Well, I went to a dealer 3 weeks ago this coming Sunday to look at my TLS in person, saw it on the lot. Drove back Monday when they opened, test drove it, talked to the sales guy, went home..... cleaned out my 2g on Tuesday morning, went back to the dealer and bought the 3G TLS. Didn't look at, or test drive any other cars. I guess it was just meant to be. I just loved the 3g and was sick of replacing transmissions in my 2g.

4 months or so I was looking at TLs, G35s, 300cs. Wanted a specific range of colors, navi, and in good shape. Originally only wanted a regular TL, but the TL-S popped up nearby and I picked it up.

i'm the original owner...so it came down to when i wanted to buy. spent 3 mos "thinking" about when i wanted to buy, colors and transmission. finally got down to serious numbers talk...my car just came off the truck on a monday...reserved off the truck by the salesman and purchased on a thursday. never test drove the TL before purchase. when they first came out, it had me at hello, so in a way, it was meant to be. to this day i still baby the car, and it shows.

i waited quite a while for one...i knew i wanted a 07-08 TL-S the day i saw one about 4 years ago. but, could not afford one at the time so i saved up and put a hefty DP on one last year to reduce my interest/payments over the course of my loan.

i'd say honestly, i had to wait a few good years before i could afford one...or, let me rephrase that...i had to wait a few good years before i wanted to deal with car payments each month. this is the first car i've had to take a loan out on. i've had 7 cars up until now, paid in full from the start. god i hate car payments...

Bought mine used, but I was bouncing back between several models I couldnt decide over, and ultimately settled on the TL. Test drove a SSM 6MT at a Yota dealer in OC in the summer of '10 and loved it. Too expensive though (dealer, obv) and I didnt have the funds at the time.

Didnt find the TL 6MT w/ Navi i'd actually buy until Feb '11, so took me over half a year to find it. Some say cars arent necessarily fiscally wise purchases, but I think my TL is one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life.

i test drove a type s automatic back in may 2008 at the dealer thought it was just ok, then i test drove an acurazine member's 6mt (I only wanted a stickshift) and loved it. had my friend do a dealership research and found out there were only 3 new wdp/ebony stickshift (type s) cars left in the west coast. june 1st, 2008 i flew to san jose with a down payment in hand and drove my new (4 miles) WDP/ebony, 6 mt type s home!!

paid that sucker off in 16 months and i have loved every second of owning it!

I wanted one as soon as I seen the 04's come out. I was in High school at the time so I couldn't afford a brand new car. I started looking around for my TL in 2008, I wasn't wanting to actually buy it cause I wanted to sell the car I had to be able to put a down payment on the TL. I knew what I wanted right from the start, it had to be WDP, black interior, navigation, I found one about 2 hours south, went and test drove it and fell in love and knew I had to have it as soon as I sold my car. A couple days later I was in an accident with my stratus and it was totalled, I wasn't mad at all because the insurance gave me what I was actually looking at selling it for. Called the dealership and went down and bought my TL! The only thing I wish I would've waited for was a 6mt.

I looked around for 6 months for the right price and color. I wanted ABP but fell in love with my RRP. The only thing is I wish I waited a little longer for is one with Navi...

I casually looked for about 2 months. When my I35 started to fall apart I sped it up a bit. I test drove about 6 in a week before I went with the one I have now.

When I bought my 04 I waited 3.5 months for the combination I wanted (NBP 6 Speed Navi with Grey interior) as there were none to be found. Ordered it in Sept and picked is up in Jan.
For my current 08 TLS, found it on a dealer's website and and bought it in less than a week. Looked for a long time to find a TLS with a 6 Speed and low miles.

originally looked and test drove the tsx when the 04 came out. Did not like the light interior with the Milano red. Glad I waited. I try to take excellent care of my 06 tsx but I also do lots of driving. But then again that is what a car is for.

About 4 hours. On New Year's Day 2008, I called the dealership at 10am and told them I am buying the Type S. They told me to come over that afternoon and pick it up!

I drove the car the afternoon before and loved it, but I had to wait to hear from State Farm as to what they were going to do with my old car (which had been in an accident). I called State Farm at 4:45 on New Year's Eve and they told me that they were totaling my car. Heck, I couldn't believe they were there at 4:45pm on New Year's Eve.

So I called the dealership when they opened and said I'm buying the Type S (I put a deposit on it the night before-just to hold it until I talked to State Farm).

About 1 year, on and off, but I'm pretty OCD when it comes to my tastes. I was looking at the 05-06 TL and 05-06 G35. It was well worth the wait because I was able to snatch up, the day it was posted, a mint 05' MT that was very well taken care of. Vroom Vroom. Haha

i spent about one month on auto trader looking EVERYday i started with a 2003 TL then wanted an 03TL-s then i thought what the hey, couple more grand and i can get a 04 model...looks soo nice. then started looking at 07 models... then why not get a type s since all type-S models are fully loaded and all the extra features made it seem like a good bang for my buck. One day i saw a brand new post up for an 07 TL-S went in the same day and bought it.

Here i am 2007 type-S lol. The down side for me was my lighter interior. I wanted black/gray (two-toned) but the color has grown on me and i actually like it now. that was the only sacrifice i made.

We were looking very casually for only a couple of months. Had a 92 Cavalier before that was working fine. Saw the Accord when I took the Cav in for maintenance a few times, it looked great so we thought, why not?

In about two years, we've put the same mileage on the Accord that it took us 8 years to do on the Cav.

It took me a few months to decide I wanted a TL S. My dealer only had 08 base models and that didn't really clicked for me.
Finally they got an automatic typeS that I drove and I really liked.
I wanted WDP with ebony/silver interior 6spd manual. Unfortunately by the time I got to test drive a typeS and decided I wanted one Honda no longer produced the 6spd models. Sales guy shows me on his computer that he could no longer order one.
He told me to give him a few days and see what he can find.
He got back with me 2 days later saying an ASM rolled off the assembly line headed to the west coast but he can get it for me. I told him to do what he needs, I was on my way with the deposit.

I waited about 12 hours. Saw my TL on a Friday night after the dealer had closed. Loved it so much, I came back & bought it the next morning.

Overnight.
After looking for different cars for over a year and settling on a 6M TSX, the spousal unit requested an auto trans car.
The TSX with 5A is a different, slower animal from the 6M, so I tested the TL and an auto G35 back-to-back one day. Then I went home and did the rest of the deal for the TL over the phone the next day before going in to sign the docs and pick up the car.

Found what I wanted on the dealer website. Negotiated and completed 99% of the paperwork via email. Drove up and picked it up; no muss and no fuss.

All told, the process probably took a week or 10 days (price comparision with other dealers, etc).

Saw the car and everything. Test drove, Negotiated and agreed on a price. That was all in a span of a week and they had to repaint a fender while all this was happening.

Before that I spent about 2-3 weeks looking for a TL.

The TL? About 3 hours. I had spent about 2 weeks negotiating with a Subaru dealer for a Legacy GT. Went into the Subaru dealer on a Saturday afternoon with the intention of buying the Legacy and found my sales guy was doing paperwork with another customer so I got someone else. This guy tried telling my clutch was failing on my tC and overall just kept ticking me off on the price of the Legacy and the trade value of my tC. So we left for "lunch" and went to the Acura dealer, saw my car, test drove it and signed the paperwork.

The original Subaru sales guy called me on Monday and I told him his buddy blew the sale and I bought a TL. He hung up on me. Oh well. Three years later and have zero regrets buying the TL instead.

Honestly, the TL wasn't even on my radar I was looking for something with a large V8 (G8-GT, Grand Prix GXP, Impala SS, CTS-V Sedan, E63, 300C, Charger SRT8...hell even the Grand Cherokee SRT8...)

After checking out a couple of the above in the detail bay of a local used car lot, I was walking back through and there sat the TL all by itself in a cleanup bay. I looked it over, like the looks and asked for a test drive. I made up my mind not more than 100 yards from the dealership on the test drive that I was going to buy it.
Pretty much an impulse buy and wasn't even on my radar but I don't regret the choice at all.

The added bonuses that it was a 1 owner low miles car and the dealership was owned by the same group that owned the local Acura dealer and they did the CPO "stamp" on it made it too good to pass up...plus what they were offering me for my old car...yup...was a no brainer.

I spent a few months on autotrader and craigslist because I had to have a 6MT with Nav. There were only a couple of colors I didn't want it to be.

3-4 months. My DD 99 Accord 5spd was totalled (rear ended by an F150). Drove my buddy's EG while I was debating on getting a TL ('08 PMM w/ NAV & lower than average miles) or a 3GS. Finally found a TL 450 miles away, flew up, drove it, had it inspected, and drove it back.

It took over a year for me to find a white w/ black interior 07-08...I ended up finding an 08 with 23k miles, car was flawless when I bought it. Weird part was i found the car in my area just a couple days after I sold my previous car...Couldn't of worked out more perfect....unless it was a type-s or had NAV

I wanted one for awhile, but started looking beginning of last year when I knew I could afford it. I wanted either a KBB or MRP and automatic (just tired of driving manual). Started talking to the dealership and they said they might have a hard time finding my color choices, a day or two later an ASM 6 speed came in off a lease, I went to look at it and loved it, then I test drove it a day later and had to have it, a manual in this car makes it soo worth it! On the other hand having a car payment again kinda sucks!

Oh man, It took me months to find me a right TL. It had to be Acura CPO with 6 MT, preferably AM with black leather(didn't really care about navigation, although now I wish I had it.) 07-08 Type-S's were out of my price range at that time. I went on Autotrader every night for a while and found a couple but they weren't my color choice. Living in Iowa and having to drive to my hometown in IL to get a car didn't make the situation easier.

While I was still searching, I went to a nearby Acura dealer in my hometown so I could at least test drive an auto one. There was a nice 05 low mileage silver 6MT that had just come in and it wasn't even on autotrader yet. Man this thing had everything such as navi and full A-spec. But the price was close to auto Type-s's and I couldn't justify that price. I also had a silver car for 8 straight years so I was sick of that color as well.

While I was still searching, kinda regretting not getting that A-spec one, another one popped up on Autotrader during the week. I was going to go home that weekend to take a look at it but couple days later, that listing dissappered so I figured it was sold. The same listing appeared again and I drove home the following weekend praying that the car would still be at the dealer for me and it was.

on and off about 3 months. I knew i wanted a car to replace my current daily driver was between a few different ones. Really wanted a Ford Fusion but couldn't find a 6 speed and heard bad things about the auto trans. Always liked the TL and started looking at those and some other cars like the Lexus IS 250, mercedes c300, etc. When I went to really go out and look for the first time saw a 2009 nissan maxima in white and loved it, but i didn't fall in love with the test drive. Originally went out looking at an 06 Base TL but when i got to the dealer I fell in love with my 07 KBP. After about a week of waiting and debating I bought it on my birthday haha.

Placed order on Jan 31, 2004. Took delivery May 1, 2004.

There was a 3 month wait because of the extreme rarity of the combination 6MT, Nav, exterior and interior colors. It was a special order and is my understanding that barley a few hundred exactly like mine were made for the 2004 & 5 model years.

Which part? The first time I had gotten my '05 or when I had picked up my '07?

As for the '05, it took me over a year to get it ever since I had seen the '04 on the road. It was love at first sight and I'm glad I had waited a year to get the '05 after hearing about the horror stories of it being the first model year offered. I test drove a 6MT at my local Acura dealer, but actually made the deal in NJ. I flew out to get it and drove 14 hours straight back to Atlanta.

Then I had totaled that car and it took me over 3 weeks to find my replacement, a '07 CBP TL-S in 6MT again. This time, I found it in NY with 32K miles, flew up there, and drove it in a friggin Nor'easter (briefly) back down to Atlanta. Wow, what a difference between this car and the one I had!
