How to keep new car smell

I have a 3 week old 04 TL...and I love it

One thing I love the most about my new car is the new car smell...(passengers also comment how they love that smell as well)

What are the ways to keep that new car smell?

(please dont say buy a new car)

Here are some things Ive done to keep it smelling like the showroom.
1 Leave windows rolled up when parked in garage...(do you think that will contain the smell?)
2 Clean and condition leather regurlaly, im using Plexo

I don't think you can retain the smell. The odor is probably from aromatics emanating from the various plastics, rubber, and adhesives used in the cars interior. They will just fade away in time. You can retain the leather smell with certain, but not all, leather conditioners.

One thing you can do is apply Zaino's Leather COnditioner to retain the leather smell.

No where that i know of. Lots of leather conditioners have a pleasant fragrance, but it does not last long.

That new car smell is likely not very good for you anyway - the outgassing of the PVC's, etc. Like a new house's carpeting and sealants.

too bad a new study by the NCAA (National Car Association of America) has proven that the new car smell is hazardous to your health.

well... it wont stay there forever.. but to make it last... one thing that helps is to not bring food or drink to the interior cabin of the car, that includes leaving a pack of gum inside...
although, my TL smells minty fresh

You don't want to keep the new car smell. As Rice1304 posted above, prolonged exposure to new car smell is dangerous. This is why all the "new car smell' sprays on the market don't smell anything like new car smell.

One way to improve on the interior "scent" is to try one of these products,
http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.j...=leather+scent
They won't bring back the new car smell but the leather scent will help the car smell better than MacDonald fries .

Griot's Garage has a pretty good Leather Smell spray for the carpets. Works well, but migh not smell EXACTLY as it was new.

I keep vent set to recirculate, I've heard that at least extends the duration of the new car smell.

I too love the new car smell. It does stick around for awhile. I say I lost it around 3000Miles. But the leather smell keeps me going.

The new car smell is actually carcinogenic, and may be a factor in causing cancer, so you may not want it forever.

screw the "new car smell", it's toxic like several peeps above mentioned. You want it to go AWAY.
wipe down interior frequently to rid of it.
