how important is it to buy a used TL that is acura certified?

for the full CPO with its 100kmile warranty is about $700-1000 that corp charges the dealer, then dealer marks it up to 1500
Ive heard of 800 if you negotiate
With the technical stuff that can fail on a TL- especially auto trans, worth buying it

meh- different strokes. I dont have an extended warranty. I have not regretted it yet. 79k miles on my 05.
I can appreciate the reasoning for spending $$ for an ext. warranty/ CPO vehicle.

I purchased mine Certified. . .and the deal is you know they went through and took care of everything. . . they don't certify it unless it's worth it for them, they did the full tune-up, new tires and ensured she looked sharp. . . and a 12,000 bumper to bumper warranty was nice knowing if anything came up i'm covered. . .

Wasn't even a factor for me. I can not see spending extra money on something that you may never need and really can't prove that the dealer did anything for. I bought a honda product that has a very good reliability rating. No cpo for me. Not needed.

Depends on how much of the factory warranty is left.
If you're looking at an '08 with 15k miles, I would say CPO is a waste of money.
If you're looking at an '05 with 80k miles, I would say CPO is a good investment.

cpo does NOT do tune up/service!!-
its a visual inspection by a tech of some 150 items like visable body repairs, bent parts, leaking parts..it can have repaired damage like door panels and still pass
any oil change things are up to Sales dept if they want to have done- it comes out of their profit..it may get an oil change because buyers will pull the dipstick and nothing else~
Tires and brakes only have to meet a minimum thickness/depth to pass, not brand new
If something is really damaged, needs steering rack etc, the car wont pass-
The VIN is run and any recalls are taken care of- dealer makes money from acura on those
Anyone can take their acura to any dealer for recalls no matter where the car was purchased- they are FREE and dont care how many owners- its a safety recall
CPO is a good inspection, but always get a 2nd opinion from independant source on any car you want to buy
Its 100kmiles trans warranty is what you are paying for, and well worth it
Just wait till you hit 93 and it suddenly wont go any farther, you call acura and they send a tow, give you a loaner car and replace the trans, net savings 4000$
