I don't think I necessarily drive hard, a few times I've had to pressed the petal to get around/away from some wall flowers on the road. I think I drive fast.

Very easy most of the time. Vtec maybe once a week. Many weeks I carpool to work so it's 1.7 miles to work, 2 miles home from work and I have to take it easy since the oil is still cold.

The 5at basically shifts based on load (how much throttle you give it) so rpms are sort of a way of showing how much throttle you're giving it. Lately I've been giving it little enough gas to keep the shift points at 2,300-2,500rpm which is very little throttle. I don't hold up traffic, I get on it if I need to but there's just no reason to race up to a redlight. The amount of throttle used to accelerate from a redlight to the speed limit is enough to hold the car steady state at 130+mph. Just try it one day if you have an open road, take off normally, especially if you're the type that likes to drive spirited, don't back off the gas, keep it exactly where it is and chances are the car will stop accelerating around 130mph. People don't realize just how much throttle is spent in accelerating a car.

Even with my very easy driving I'm still averaging 15mph, 15mpg. There's just too many redlights and stop signs around here to get decent mileage plus I tend to warm it up for a couple minutes and listen to the radio which kills mpg.

I'm not always real easy on the 1-2 shift because I don't like the way it slides into second gear under light throttle, it's too much wear so by giving it more throttle and making it shift firmer you're actually saving wear. Sometimes I'll back completely out and then let it shift the 1-2 also. Mine doesn't seem to pull throttle on this shift.

I hit v-tec in every gear, Drive, Reverse, Neutral, and Park. All day, everyday.

Good luck doing that in park and neutral. Damn it, now I'm wondering if reverse is limited.

Do you kids just drive hard or also fast? I'm not one for flooring it but I'm usually driving 80. That car loves to go fast.

I usually drive around 7 above the posted speed limit unless i'm in a 25 in which case I won't do more than 5 over. I do agree with you, though that it is very easy to speed in the car - you don't really feel 80 mph, or even 90 or 100. The TL just gobbles it up. Going 80 in a Corolla by comparison, the whole car seems to shake, lol.

I just drive half throttle to get up to speed only, winding gear up to about 5-6k. Love the sound. 1st and 2nd gear get a workout.

My car is obnoxiously loud though, so sometimes I have to watch it. I've almost been ticketed for "excessive acceleration" as cops think I'm ripping it pedal to the floor when I drive past them on the other side of the street, when in reality the car is just that loud under half throttle.
