How to Get a Good Deal on a 2008 TL

Hey everyone,

I'm coming off a hard luck 2008 Base TL that had multiple problems from day one, some of which have never been resolved. Nevertheless, I had a 2006 TL before this which was problem free and I despite all these problems with the 2008, I still like the overall size, bodystyle, and interior of the car.

As a result, instead of leasing something new from Infiniti, BMW, or Lexus, I'm thinking of returning this 2008 TL in and getting a CPO 2008 TL Base with tech package.

I wanted to get some help from anyone who has recently bought a used TL this year to give me some pointers as to how to get a good deal on a used one? I'm not going to pay full asking price some of these dealers do when I'm willing to stay loyal and get another Acura. I would be financing for 3 years.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Walk in to the dealership on Friday September 30th @6PM and hope that the weather forecast for that weekend is miserable. I can't speculate on the price at this point.

I would say most dealerships are hurting right now which obviously is going to work to your advantage. I bought mine used from a dealership about 6 months ago I looked up what Private party value was on KBB and do some Craigslist browsing see what they are going for and go from there. I got mine in between low and med private party blue book price from the dealer and had low miles clean carfax all maintenance done thru the dealer navi and back up cam.Just got to wheel and deal my friend and don't let them jerk ya around

Yup The Last day of the Month is Always ur best bet to buy cars. They are tryna sell as much as possible before month end. So Im pretty sure if you check in around this time and negotiate you will get something for a good price.

Correct, my recommendation for Sep 30th above is because it is the last day of the 'business' week, last day of the month and last day of the third quarter. Next stop would be Dec 31 2011. Now a rainy forecast will make it a jackpot

2008's are a dime a dozen right now. You can easily find a nice off-lease one at any dealership. Don't be afraid to walk if you don't like the deal you're getting.

Some dealers will be less willing to negotiate further on a Navi model. I looked at both the base and navi 08s when I purchased mine at that time and and several just wanted too much for the navi model (IMO). I was able to bargain further on the base but that depends on how bad you want that model....all about the demand. You'll find some that consider the black interior to be more coveted so taupe interiors are usually easier to bargain on as well. Good luck!

There not negotiating much on them. I got mine last month 30k miles for 23k$. they told us the used ones are going like crazy so they aren't moving much on price. This is because they arent getting many news ones due to the whole japan issue.

Picked up a 2008 TL base in late April. NBP on Ebony w/ 24K miles for $24K. I searched using Autotrader and found 14 meeting my criteria within 500 mile radius. Curiously 9 were at the same dealer in chicago which does a major league CPO business. Drove 4 and picked one. Not bad pricing and is their bread and butter after new. I suggest you use such search engines and be careful looking at hits. I found one CBP with very low miles (14K) and good Carfax records, but it was not nearly as nice as the one I picked ... rode hard, put up wet!

start looking the last week of the month. wheel & deal close to the end of the month. It might be the last day of the month but the dealer really pushes cars out the door at that time.
