What is the top speed of the stock 2005 5AT TL?

147ish? (governor limited I believe) Speedo goes to 160, something tells me that wouldn't be a problem.

 

Speed Governer hits at around the 150 mark.

Not sure for the AT, but for the MT, it's exactly 153 mph when the governor kicks in.

 

Fast enough for BIG $$$ Ticket and free trip to jail!

Wow, don't buy the car they were driving, that's when bug splatters turn into like paint chips or dings.

I wouldn't mind trying to top out the TL in some kind of controled condition, trying it on the highway makes me too paranoid to concentrate on the driving part. crusing at 120MPH is right where I start to feel uncomfortable. I only do this going on the interstate where it is so rural that I pass cops going the other direction at 100+ and they don't even blink, ie. sac to socal.

 

You pass cops going down to LA and they dont even blink?????? The Highway Patrol is on one of the biggest crackdowns on speaders in the sacramento area and their force is getting bigger on the 5. New (of a few years ago) camaro cop cars are meant to catch people going that fast. I think they have started to blink again, and write a hell of a lot more tickets than they ever were before.

 

My 03 TL-s i had upto 145 BUT holy sh*t did it talk a lonnng time!!!! shifted out of 3rd and it seemed to just fall on its face after 130
I would think that the 04-05's would take even longer b/c the Vtec doesn't kick in until 4700 rpms
i've only had the '05 upto 120...getting to old for JAIL

 

Funny, this is true and I may as well retract my own statement since I just recently got yanked by CHP on the Grapevine in a Camero. I just usually find myself about a 1/4 mile behind a pack of 4-5 cars going 100+MPH and when I see brake lights, that's my que, but sometimes a cop will go whizzing by and non of us saw him and we're all checking our rearviews but he just keeps going... (Knock on wood)
