136. I think that it is real easy to just cruise at about 105, car feels great, but I like to cruise at 90 most of the time. Just saying the car feels fine at 105. When I went 136 there was a slight cross wind and I must say I didn't really enjoy myself. I did 135 in my 99 Integra GS-R with 3 guys in the car, felt way more stable than my TL. I wonder if the lowering (Comptech springs) and the A-spec body kit affect the aerodynamics for the worst. I don’t have a problem with speed but that 136 was not a good time.

I've had mine all the way up to 85.

Not the top speed that facinates me...it's how fast it GETS there! I know there are quicker rides that accellerate more rapidly...but this car just feels like it wants to keep going in every gear. LOVE that feeling.

If you push the rugrat and the preggers ole lady out, you will lighten the load and get an extra 4 MPH.

I had my bone stock TL to the speed limiter which definitley looked over 155 mph on the speedometer (looked about 158). This was on a wide open country back road with not a car or soul in sight, BN pavement and an eventual downgrade.

Would do again only under certain circumstances:
-on a controlled track.
-on a dead straight highway with no cars, perfect pavement, perfect weather conditions and no cops....

...I Guess I'm dreaming

Did a few 80-120 pulls on the highway. Was messing around with a Buick Regal Supercharged...that domestic shit must have been seriously tuned because I couldn't pull away from him.

on a road trip to kentucky i did 2 pulls from 70ish to about 120-130. first time i was only dropped to 4th gear so it didn't pull very hard, but second time i dropped down to 3rd and it did much better.

From St. Louis to Chicago i manged to pull about 150-155 by then it was to the point where i was kind of worried about the car since it's really not designed to take that type of beating...plus the crosswinds on the way to Chicago are actually kind of scary.....i really wouldnt suggest trying this at all, it's scary when you just tap the brakes a little, and if you do, don't even try to slam the brakes...

to give everyone a general idea, i currently have about 16k miles on a car that i've had since the beginning of 05 (long story short went to school, didnt feel like driving, and left her sitting in a garage to be driven every now and then). but i have already have had to replace the brake pads, and i'm looking into a rotor replacement....they are warped and cannot be resurfaced at all.

the fastest i have ever gone is about 214 on the LIE in the middle of the night. It was really stupid of me, and probably the scariest moments for alot of the other people on the road.....i guess i had that fucked up HS fever and tho i was driving a tricked out 350z (god i miss her....silverstone is what got me wanting Anthracite).....i would say 180 is the fastest anyone should go and hope for any form of control. I would say i was very lucky i lived that night, because going to one day of a performancing driving school

it's funny tho, i have to admit, even tho ive driven a VQ35DETT, and i mean that really shot me into the seat of my car, i'm still incredibly fascinated with VTEC, it really is the biggest gap between all the Japanese cars...although i'm not sure, but sometimes that "surge" is pretty weak, but in an optimal situation, for a 4 door luxery sedan it feels pretty good.

LOL i'm even kind of embarassed to even have admit that i used to drive a rice car >< (though it was always performance over aesthetics first!!)

There are some nice, flat, open stretches of the LIE once you get past the Wm. Floyd Parkway, and they're mostly deserted in the early AM. I used to live out there, but never owned anything that could go very fast at that time in my life.

Having gone through the three day Skip Barber Racing School (which I highly recommend to anyone interested), I've learned that for me, personally, it's a lot more fun to take corners at reasonable but high speeds while maintaining full control than to just go super fast in a straight line.

I manage to crack a smile quite often even in my tiny 124hp '97 Saturn SC2, just cornering and apexing turns. Once I get my TL, I'm sure I'll be grinning ear to ear.

Now I just need to find some safe twisties in the Seattle area, and I'll be all set.

I do not have a TL but I got the Accord (AV6 EX-L 5AT) up to 125 mph this past weekend while running against an 04-06 TL (whose driver wanted to play) on the NJ Turnpike late Saturday night.

Probably due to the fact that neither signify 'love', which is the context of the avatar (anachronistic as it may be nowadays).

110 mph for a short time, I didn't want to push my luck with state troopers. It was as smooth as driving at 70 mph.

Long, deserted, open, dry stretch of country road with no access/cross traffic for ar least a mile or two. Slight downgrade. Was running about 65 - 70, dropped it into 3rd and WOT.

It really amazed me how quickly it hit the century mark. 105 was effortless.

About 125 on a completely empty 4-lane highway. It was about 2:30 AM on a Monday morning IIRC.

Cruising at 60, slightly drowsy, so I stomped on it and needless to stay, I was wide awake for the rest of the drive home. It was then when I learned about the proverbial "4th gear brick wall"

This is exactly how innocent people get killed by drunken drivers who were more 'relaxed and gutsy' after a few drinks.

All it takes is a small dip on the road or your tires to blow out and you're toast.

TL brakes are good but at those speeds, forget it. You try to slow back down to speed limit, you'll warp those rotors for sure.

If you want to see what the car can do, take it to the track. At least if you smack the wall or turn the car over you'll likely to be alone.

You've felt that too!?

Actually I don't intend on going faster than the top of third gear, just because 4th gear is so slow. In all honesty on an open road 120 doesn't really feel that fast.

Yeah the worst part about speeding is that the TL does not like high speed stops with stock A/T brakes.

It happens on the 5spd Auto, because fourth gear goes up to 150mph it's like overdrive, so slow.

You can see this effect at much lower speeds in 5th. With your AT, get it up to around 80 - 85 MPH on a flat bit of highway. Put it in SportShift mode - it should be in 5th gear. Now, mash the gas, WOT. You will CREEP slowly toward 86 ....... 88 ....... 90 ....... . Now downshift to 4th and - zoom - off you go.

If you stay in the "full auto" mode at the same 80 - 85 MPH and mash the gas, the car will downshift to accelerate.

Got it, a gear ratio wall. Doesnt apply to my MT, but interesting. I just shift to 4th and I am off...then to 5th....I dont recall at what speed I shifted out of 5th or even if I did when I went 135ish in my car.

Haven't made any top speed runs in the TL-S. So I can't comment on the how fast it'll go.

Did recognize the original poster from the truck forums though. What's up Walt, how are ya?
