How difficult is it to swap our carpet?

I have the ivory carpet and plan to swap out with black carpet.

Anything that's cumbersome besides the usual nuts and bolts? Electrical that would be a headache to deal with?

Seats have a few bolts on them, you can just unbolt the console and lift it up without taking the wiring out im sure. All the trim on the door sills and B-pillars, the rear back seat, fuel door level. Nothing crazy, i haven't taken the carpet out in my TL, but have in just about every possible Cadillac and all the Hummers. Not too bad if your careful with trim. It can easily break. Good luck

It's not a big deal if you're somewhat mechanically inclined.

I did the front carpet and it was the easiest I've ever done but it takes a little while. Probably going to do the rear soon and it looks even easier.

I remember when I took out all the seats center console and completely everything it didn't seem like the carpet would just come out I think that was like some plastic clips holding it down somewhere something almost like I would had to tear out...what I did do was end up using some black carpet vinyl spray paint I think it took like 5 or 6 cans but definitely look like my carpet, black I was very impressed on the feel and look of the carpet....I figured I was going to tear it out and replace it anyway might as well try and paint first... think it ended up costing me like 20 or 30 bucks...I probably have some pictures if you want PM me your email...again I just took out all the seats and everything covered everything with blankets and painted the carpet with carpet paint...couldn't tell unless I told you; didn't feel crunchy or anything either...

Thanks for the input guys. I've actually swapped out carpet in my previous car ('96 SS) for a "bentley cut" (thick) carpet as a major upgrade. But I have yet to find any company to make carpet for our cars that's thicker (plush).

So I figured just swapping it out would do the job.

But now I'm thinking maybe dying it could work.

A friend of mine took his entire interior apart, including the carpet, to add dynomat. If he can do it anybody can, he is not exceptionally mechanically inclined.
