How can I install a front license plate?

The previous owner of my '04 TL didn't need a front license plate, but it's required where I live. There aren't any brackets on the front bumper that I'm aware of, and I'd rather not drill holes into my car. Is there an easy way to install the license plate?

Pop out the round plugs on each side of the "ACURA" lettering. That is where the plastic license plate holder bolts to. I don't know if the plate will bolt right up to that , but you could give it a try.

You'll need a bracket. The bracket will bolt right into the bumper where those plugs were and your plate over that bracket.

coolest idea by far... retains good looks of the car... can it be set up to just come up when the car is running and then retract when the car is turned off?

^ - That doesn't look good though. Keep it in the center.

Put it in the stock position. That also prevents the blocking of air going into your engine or CAI if you have one.

What plugs? As far as I can tell, nothing has ever been screwed into the front bumper or removed.

There are two small (round) plugs near the word "Acura". Just pop those out. The bracket screws into those holes where the plugs where. Keep the plugs for future use as they are about $20.00 each at the dealer. Or sell them in the black market section. Or better yet, donate them to someone who may need them. Also, you may want to post a WTB in the black market for the bracket.

Thanks everyone. Doesn't look like anyone is selling the bracket right now, but I'll make an ad and hopefully get one soon.

What's the best way to pop out the two plugs, from the front or behind the bumper?

That's exactly right. I bought my bracket just a few weeks ago (was only $10 new online) with the screws, and I did it myself. Just be aware that the holes are only partially pre-drilled into the bracket- you will need to push with your screwdriver while putting them in so it catches on the plastic and keeps the license plate on there.

And yes, keep it in the center. The off-center plates on ANY car look ridiculous, they make you look like a try-hard IMO. No hate intended, just saying.

Well I ordered the front lisense frame (part # 71145-SEP-A00) from curryacuraonline for around 12 bucks......just got the frame and no bolts / assembly parts. I have popped open the two round plugs, but have no clue how to fix the frame to the bumper & how to attach the license plate to the frame. I would really appreciate if someone could mention the steps on how to fix the frame and the plate! This is for Acura TL 2006.......thanks!!

hey AZ,
sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but its relevant. I USED to live in TX and had the plate in the front. i moved to LA and didnt need it, got front end messed up in a hit and run, and it was all replaced. now i moved back to OH and need the front plate back. I have the screws and the bracket. when i pop the two small circles off, theres plastic behind them. If i remember correctly, are the screws supposed to go into metal? i'll go take a pic and post it...its just plastic fresh out of the factory, maybe the body shop forgot to do something?

Do you still have this?! I see that it's been a couple years but I also know sometimes stuff just gets set aside and thought I would give it a try. Tired of being pulled over in WA for no front plate and I think I'm out of warnings.
