How to break in the motor?
So, i've been reading through many of the posts here and thought I would try and shed some light on the baffling break-in period.
I see many posts about the MLEP additive Honda puts in the factory fill oil. After doing some research i've come to the same conclusion some others have, MLEP really does not do anything for performance or longevity of the motor.
Others have asked if a break-in period is required, like driving easy, etc. Most think they drive home a "green" motor from the dealer when in fact the motor has enough run time on it that it is ready for general use right off the showroom floor. Seating, aka "break-in" of the parts will occur in about 30 minutes of run time.

People usually land on either the "baby it" or "hammer it" side. I've always run my vehicles hard. I doubt anyone will have a problem with either method. One method may assist with ring seat (or not) and the other may benefit longevity after 200,000 miles (or not).
Nobody knows for sure, so go with your gut.
Due to the shedding of metal during break in, an early oil change or two may be beneficial.

I think it depends on the car and engine. Just follow the manual.
Our new Chrysler 300 manual specifically states to use WOT(wide open throttle) occasionaly on the highway (probably to seat the rings) and to vary engine speeds by not cruising too long at any one set speed. The TL manual makes no mention of WOT, so I just drove easy/normal for the first ~600mi. Actually, I think I caved around 550mi and floored it for the first time to hear v-tec roar.

Roaring Sound
I dunno about you fellas but i love when im merging onto the highway and i have the merging all to myself (ie no cars in front) oh man, i would punch that shit so hard (not flooring it). Its the best feeling, my car rockets me back into my seat. Guys, i was wondering if i were to get a 350Z exhaust for my TL would i get the same sound from it? I know it sounds crazy but it was just a thought.
Follow the manual. Best advice one could get.
As far as the oil goes, run the factory oil for 3000 miles and you won't need any additives. Run a short 3K drain prior to starting your planned regularly scheduled interval.
I found out just today that there's more than just Mo that makes the factory fill special...even RR doesn't know about it. (Will have to send him an e-mail)
