Horsepower Increase in Type-S

What all do we need to increase the horse power in the 2008 type-s and what is the max we can increase it to?

I just want to have some basic idea as to how its done.

I am honestly not sure if they have. However with enough money I am sure any good performance shop should be able to fab whatever would be needed... Granted you are prob looking in the 6k range until comptech has one availible

Okay, ill make this easier for the op. U can get Cold Air Intake, ATLP exhuast, Exlererate exhuast, Greddy Exhuast(loudest, best), and comptech exhuast, you can get a ATLP J-Pipe or, RV6 JPIPE, or RV6 PreCats delets, and RV6 TESTPIPE, all these things go with your exhuast system, except CAI. Now for engine upgrades-UR Ultra SC Pulley, OE IM spacers, P2R TB spacer, AEM CAI, and u can get 75shot nos wetkit. You can not get a supercharger yet, but if u have close to 5k saved up wait till next year to get comptechs supercharger for the 3.5L engine.

the search is great and all but sometimes the point of a new thread is to start a new discussion and not just continuing one from 2004.

^^ it is required that you search before starting new threads. There are hundreds of threads on this topic. This won't be the last. I'm sure there will be a new one on this same topic within the next 3-5 days. Heck, there's even one on the main page in the Performance subsection.

To the OP- welcome to the site. You will find alot of useful info by searching and/or looking in the 3G Garage.

FYI... comptech is NOT NOT NOT going to be making a supercharger for the TL-S.... the original design of the 3.2L TL is all... they never did ANY R&D for the 3.5L engine, because they feel the M62 blower wont provide enough power...

I am going to be frankensteining the 3.2L s/c with an HBP on my 3.5L... i havent committed to buying the parts yet, because i am having trouble finding a reputable shop in my area to the tuning WITHOUT blowing my engine...

So far, I have the highest dyno recorded whp for a TL-S (294whp) but I have an automatic.. if you were to put a 6spd on the SAME dyno i used, expect to see around 310whp... but all dynos read differently

certain members who have the same mods on a 5AT TL-S, made less whp on the dyno they used. you cant compare dyno-to-dyno when using different machines....

Mods needed would be

Cold Air Intake
Catback exhaust (non-resonated & no mid-muffler will provide most power)
J-Pipe
Pre-Cat deletes
3rd Cat delete
UR Pulley (Underdrive may free up 1-2 more whp that stock sized)
P2R Throttle body spacer
P2R or OE thermal Intake manifold gaskets

thats what i have going on in my car... you can also P&P your Intake Manifold runners, and you may gain power off that, although we have no proven results

I am a power whore... i love and constantly want more WHP.... so i've thoroughly tested all my mods, and dyno'ed in between each one to make sure power is really gained (or "free-ed up")

I just installed an AEM CAI on my 08 TL-S. It's definitely worth it. The power increase and sound make it a no brainer.

Is AEM the name of the company that makes the CAI for the TL-S? Any links to specific TL-S CAI?

Where do you notice the power increase, ie. across the entire RPM range or on the low end? Also, is the sound a throtty exhaust or a whistling sound? Did your MPG increase or is this not an advantage of a CAI? Did you do the install or take to shop and if DIY how long and was it easy/hard? Thanks
