Horns(mods, if this is in the wrong section feel free to close it)

Anyone have any aftermarket horns on their car? Are the loud, cool sounding, police and ambulence type horns street legal? Even if there not could it be installed in the car in addition to the standard horn(those things are so damn cool) and where can they be purchased.

I'm ready to install new horns but can't locate the stock ones even with the pics from the online parts place. I must have been digging for 3/4 hour with a work lamp under the hood trying to find the horns. If you have a manual I could really use some help with this.

There is also something interesting on the online parts place Sunnyvale
they show 2 different types of horns but dont have hte part number for the additional set. Check this link:

Try it out...

Buy one, hook it up, find a cop and fire it off. You'll get your answer.

I spent over $100 for German Hella horns and was very disappointed...they were advertised as being the loudest legal horn on the market and I barely noticed any difference between the Hella's and the stock horns...don't waste your money on these horns, if you want something really loud...get air horns.

I didn't remove mine, but I have a service manual. They are located behind each fender panel. Here's the scan.

The stock horns are pretty darn loud already... very impressed with them, but I've always wanted to install the ones that trucks have

The horns sound a little "German" like to me. The ones on my old 97 Camry definitely sounded very cheap. I think I will keep mine stock. Hey, you can always put those Dukes of Hazzard ones on that play music. On 2nd though, NAHHHHHHHHH!

I agree, the stock sounds very American. Mid-70's American, in fact.

i've had multiple comments that the horn is very weak, and one of my friends mentioned something about it being single tone rather than dual tone... not sure. its a little weak to me but i think that may also be because it sounds more muffled from the interior.

That would be the absolute first time I've heard that. Every person I've demonstrated the horn to has said it is WAYYYYY loud... and I love it!
