Lightbulb Hooking up an aftermarket subwoofer

Hey, just purchased a new '04 TL and wish to add a little more thump to the ELS stereo...can i replace the stock 8" sub and re-install a 8" JL subwoofer with the stock wiring and notice a considerable difference without adding an amplifier???

Should I keep the stock subwoofer and just add a Sub box and amp in the trunk and keep the pass-through down so that the bass enters into the car??

Thanks, Chris

Dont mean to hijack the thread but I just noticed where you were from Nforce. I just got back from there...will you go to the Venetian and find the 7' tall sumo looking dealer at the blackjack table and kick him in the hoohoo's for me. Thanks!

Here is my question on the topic......In my 02 I took the lead from the BOSE amp that is mounted behind the back seat. Ran that to my amp. Then disconnected the stock sub and tapped into that line and ran it to my amp. Doing it this way, I did not need a hi-lo converter.

I guess my question is: is there an amp in the ELS system? If so, where is it mounted? Can the setup that I have in my 02 be done the same way in the 04?

Thanks

I can only answer this, the amp is located in the front passenger kick panel.

Hopefully someone else can help you with the rest, but since the AMP is up front, I do not think you can do what you are asking.
