Question Homelink and Stanley Garage Opener

I have a Stanley Garage Door opener with rolling codes, I have read through all the threads in here as well as the homelink website. NO LUCK, nothing worked! Anyone else has the same problem with Stanley and Homelink. All suggestions are appreciated!

I read here that the instructions in the paper handout leave out a couple of steps, which are in the quick-start guide.

If you don't have the quick-start guide, let me know and I will type in the instructions.

Just went outside and looked to see if there was a Quick-Start Guide,... Nope, didn't see one, so I would appreciate if you can type one up, if it is not too much trouble! Thanks a million!

If the quick-start guide is no help, I would suggest calling homelink. Their number should be in the manual. I had the same problem with my 2k not working. They sent me a transformer at no cost that wired into my current opener. Worked like a charm and also operates with my 04 system. Whatever you do, don't go out and buy a universal transmitter until you check out this no-cost solution.

The rolling code instructions start with paragraph 7.
7. Find the Training button on the garage or gate opener. Press and hold the button until the light next to the button comes on or blinks, then release it. You then have 30 seconds to complete the next step.
8. Press the button you just tried to train two times, holding it 3 to 4 seconds each time before releasing. The training light on the opener goes off. (Some systems may require you to press and release the button up to three times.)
9. Press the HomeLink button again to operate the garage door or gate opener.

If you have a problem or for more information, call HomeLink at 1-800-355-3515 or visit their website at www.homelink.com

Thanks Oswald, I've just visited their website and filed the question to Homelink, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Ron A, I did try steps 7 to 9 as you've detailed, no luck, but thanks anyway.... I am sure homelink will have a solution for me.... stay tuned... Thanks again guys for your quick respond.

It took me awhile to figure this out also. The rolling code setup requires all the steps - i.e. you first set it up as if it were a single code system using the stock remote, etc,(even though it won't work at that point) then move to the rolling code steps.

IT WORKED! cdmontgomery is right, and the manual is absolutely mis-leading.... on the rolling codes. EVEN though you have rolling codes, you still need to do the first step of sync up with your existing remote to the car's homelink as though if you don't have the rolling codes. Thanks a million guys...!!

I think the ignition has to be turned to the ON position, which is the thing that messed me up ...

I too went right to the rolling code section of the owner's manual and experienced the same problems. After multiple attempts, I consulted the homelink website where the procedures were much more straightforward. When I went back to the manual, I finally understood what they were trying to say but it certainly was not clear on the first reading.

Do any of you know if HomeLink works with a little transmitter I use to open a gate to a condo community. In other words, its not a proprietary garage gate im opening, but a gate from a gated community. Thanks.

Vroman,

You should absolutely consult Homelink on this at www.homelink.com, try to follow their programming the Gate instructions. http://www.homelink.com/program/gate.tml or contact them at http://www.homelink.com/contact/contact.tml and click on "email us". I did that yesterday and they replied within couple of hours.... not bad homelink....

If your current "condo gate" remote operates in the same frequency range as a garage door opener, I would think that you could train the homelink to operate the gate. If the condo gate is also using a rolling code, you would have to be able to access the "learn" feature on the gate and that might be a problem.

That's strange....I sure didn't have to have the ignition on to program any of my cars...with rolling codes...including my 06 TL

It is strange. I tried for 3 days with no luck, and I read the post. I first tried it with the ignition on accessory with no luck, then I tried it with the ignition on, and it worked like a charm.

On another note, is there a way to make it so homelink is disable if the key is not in the ignition?

The reason for this is that sometimes I need to park my in the driveway, and if someone broke into my car, they would be able to open my garage door - and that's where I store my childhood goodes! I'm not sure what I would do if someone stole my 1st Gen Optimus Prime!!!
