Angry A hole in the leather...

So I purchased my 2008 TL-S back in June. I did notice that it had a small tear in the drivers seat. It has now grown a bit in the 4 months I've owned it and I am wondering what the best course of action is now.

Do I try to get some aftermarket seat covers? Do I try to have the leather repaired locally to see if I can match the passenger seat.

I think it's your handles fault. Change that and maybe you won't have holes...

Not much you can do but dont use seat covers; issue is still there and it may get bigger literally. Either replace it completely or patch it up.

Its a long shot but did you buy from an Acura dealer? If so you can try to have a good will repair done. Both my driver side and passenger sides ripped a year a part. My car was CPO so the first rip was fixed free of charge, after my CPO warranty was over they did a goodwill repair for the passenger. I don't know if you will have the same luck-it depends on the dealer. I've been taking my car back to my dealer for service ever since purchase so I have loyalty with them but then again my dealer only charges me 30 bucks for an oil change. Either way if you want it done right, the seat cushion cover that covers the foam base of the seat is 500 bucks. You probably can get it cheaper from one of the vendors on this site at a significant savings.

Get it repaired by a leather repair company. They're usually mobile and will come to you for about $100. Or yah. Buy the seat cover for $400+.

$400 for some seat covers F that; just get a new seat if you are going to spend that much.

Ever tried adding all the parts for a new seat? It's well over 2000... Lol

He was referring to the oem seat covers that come with the car, cheapest way is to buy that piece from dealer but it's over 400 for each piece.

Guys, please don't clog up a thread with useless ramblings. Either answer the OP's questions or don't post......

Agreed, ColorGlo is a national mobile franchise (and like always, it depends on how good the owner/operator is) and usually can fix small tears in leather and vinyl. I've got a good relationship with the Dallas area ColorGlo rep since he does interior repair/refinishing and I do detailing.

If the tear is too large to repair, you'd have to look for an upholstery shop who can match the leather and sew in new piece for the torn section.

I alrdy told you it's over $2000 for the whole seat. Probably over $3000 by the time you add labor. For $1200 all you get is a new seat bottom, not even the seat back.

Yeah that looks like the route I'll have to go. There are a lot of 3G TL's I see on the road here. I checked EBay and I could get a pair of 3G TL Base seats for around $600. I'll keep my eye out for the Black/Tan TL-S seats.

For now I'll have to duct tape it I guess. I had it taped before but it would always curl. Any tips on how to cover it without it curling and leaving a sticky mark on my clothes you all have?

Is that cheap? It would be hard to find somewhere around here that charges more than $30 for an oil change. That would includes a tire rotation too. The Honda dealer I got my car from does oil changes for $12.95 but I refuse to go there because they are swindlers. I'd rather spend a few more bucks to go to a trustworthy shop.

1200? Heck even shopping via Acura you can buy the replacement section of the seat for cheaper than that by several hundred and just DIY. Otherwise I'm almost 100% sure that someone on here, either a vinder or something will have a seat or whatever to sell or give. I'd find one that's been totaled and take its seat before I'd even consider 1200 lol
