Color Matched Mud Guards on TL-S

I just bought a TL-S and the mud guards that were put on them are not color matched with my body. I called my dealer up and they said it is the dealers choice as to whether or not they want to color match the mud guards, is this true?

They are full of sh*t...take them back and tell them either to color match them otherwise take them back. Call Acura Client Care Services 1-800-382-2238 and file a complaint against the dealer...that will teach them a lesson and show you're serious

I bought my TL-S last month. My dealer put color matched splash guards on mine and others that were on the lot. It sounds like it is up to the dealer what options they put on their cars that are waiting to be sold. If my dealer had put black ones on I would have insisted that they switch them out for the colored ones before finalizing the deal. My dealer also had installed the wheel locks.

I would go one step further and say it's the dealer's choice to put splash guards on at all???

Unless they are listed on the sticker as standard equipment.............

The website shows them as a $135.00 option either color matched OR black

It was part of the protection package when I bought my car.

I don't think so. I think the color-matched guards fit '07 only. The black ones fit 04-06. I visited several dealers before I made my purchased and noticed that some dealers got it right and some got it wrong. In short, the black ones when put on an 07 will not fit right and you can see a small gap.

I actually have an answer for you since I just got mud guards put on for my car and asked in detail all the same questions. I was told that that $135 splash guards on the website are for the basic black mud guards but if you want them color matched then they really are about $60 more which I paid the difference for and got the color matched installed. You can save about $20-30 if you tell them you want to install yourself.

I think you got taken...here's the description when building the TL on acura.com and clicking the splash guards accessory

"Available as a four-piece set, these Splash Guards look great and will help defend against chips and scratches from road debris
The Splash Guards are custom molded to perfectly fit the vehicle’s contours
Available in a color-matched or black version"

No where does it say it's $135 for black and more money for color matched, I believe they are same price regardless of what color you get

blazinginder ..........Actually because I myself believed I had gotten ripped off, I ended up calling up random Acura dealerships to find out how much the mud guards are and they all said the same thing about color matched guards being more.

Yes the 2007 TL painted splash guards for the (non TL-S) will fit the 04-06 TL perfectly. It's only about a 15-20 minute install using very stubby phillips screwdrivers. A ratchet with a phillips bit will work better.

Here are the 2007 OEM Painted Splash guards that I ordered from Tim on my 05 TL.

Which colors don't match too well, the WDP?
My paint on the NBP matches perfectly. The first pic I posted shows how close the color match is. Look closely and you can see the metallic blue in the paint. They are painted with the base coat and clear coat. The other pics have some reflection or glare on the splash guards which makes them appear to be a different shade but they aren't.

It is a dealer option

It is up to the dealer, although if they do install them, they usually mark up the price of the car for the difference.

I just painted them myself with some primer, colormatched spray paint & clear coat. took me about 2 hours (most of it just waiting between coats)

any good automotive paint store will sell you color matched spray paint.
(Be sure to get a GOOD clear coat, not the cheap stuff)

Your pictures refreshed my memory in that the mud guards are not the same between Tl and TL-S. The dealers that I saw with the black guards on the Type-S did not fit right and left a small gap on the rear body fender. Anyway, I just compared your pictures and they look completely different than the ones on my car.

Just to clarify.. the base splash guards will not fit the Type S, right? I'm wanting to replace my black ones with body matched ones but the seller has a base TL.

Thanks! I sent a PM to a member on here who had the painted ones before putting the ASPEC kit on to see if they were willing to part ways with the OEM splash guards but haven't heard back yet. The black vs. color matched makes a huge difference in my opinion!

Here's mine when I took delivery. My dealer only puts painted ones on. Looks less "tacked on".
