Hit and Run

Well this is the damage left from someone backing into my car. The damage happened today because yesterday I washed my car, and there was no damage there. And the only place I went since washing my car was Arby's. So someone with a truck backed into my car and just left. It looks like all my savings for my j-pipe and taillights are going towards this.

How much do you guys think it will cost to fix?

I was just thinking of upgrading to a type-s bumper because I was going to do that eventually. Would you guys do that instead of repairing the bumper?

P.S.- sorry mods if the pic is to big

Ouch, sorry to see.

I had my bumper replaced with a new one. Including labor and paint it was a little under $500. Shops local to you may price differently though.

Good luck!

aint that a bitch. Sucks man.

Your insurance comes in handy here, as long as your collision deductible is less than the repair. But if that doesn't work just go with the upgraded bumper if you wanted to do it anyway..

Try to see if its possible to get an adjuster to look at your car. It shouldn't be a problem, especially since it isn't your fault. I would think if it was done at a "dealership" price, it would be 600 to 700. If your deductible is 500 or under, I would do the upgrade =], just my 2 cents.

Well I talked to my parents about this (as I'm only 16) and they said that our insurance plan has a higher deductible than the damage done, so I have to just pay for it out of my pocket.
I'm probably just doing to get a new bumper because my birthday is coming up soon and that will help pay for the costs. And another reason is because I commute into Atlanta each day for school. So if my car is in the shop, I have no way of getting to school. It looks like I'll have to get the bumper now. Thanks for all the help guys.

^youd be surprised what a little prep and sanding can do. then a respray/repaint shouldn't cost you more than $250.

sorry this happened to you, same thing happened to me last month...but they left a note.

good luck buddy.

Would a front license cover it?

It would cover up most of it, but there will still be some of it showing.

It would cover it to the extent no one would notice it though!

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I'm just going to put the license plate over it for now, and when summer comes I'll get a Type-s bumper.

Have the same exact dent. Lady backed into me while I was at school. The sob story she gave me about her current life situation made me feel really bad for her so I just brushed it off. My bumper was messed up anyway so it was one just one more dent lol.

Recently got another bumper from Acura.....can't wait to get it painted. Best part is NO plate holes .

I would upgrade to a 08 bumper and get some fogs! Sorry to hear though!

Sorry to see, there are tons of drivers that will just leave after they hit something. On thrusday someone was nice enough to hit my mirror and not leave a note.

That sucks but I see where your parents are coming from, a claim on your policy that is already high because you are 16 can cost thousands in the long run. Hopefully Karma catches up to them!!

A few months ago I was sitting in traffic when someone drove by and hit my mirror...kept on driving too. Luckily my TL was a bit faster than her Outback. Some people just don't care about other peoples property.

to be honest its your front bumper. here's how i look at the situation... it could happen ANYTIME. I'd sand it down a little, add some bondo, prime and do a soft respray over the patch. it wont be perfect but it will cost minimal $$$. put your other $ to your intentioned mods and maybe youll get lucky and someone will bump you and stay lol. just my 2 cents

Thats the issue, no one has respect for anyone else's belongings. Not to thread jack but someone decided to key my entire car and slash a tire last summer.

Cumming GA ehh?
Me too.

Some of the people who drive trucks around here really don't know how to drive. Ive witnessed that multiple times. But good luck getting this repaired. It doesn't look too bad. Shop around for a new bumper. If you plan on getting it through a dealer, call multiple dealers for the best price.

And really try to save your money for school. Im 19 and currently a freshman in college. I am very glad I didn't drop my saving into modifications for my TL. If I spend any money on it, it's for maintenance. 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches should be here tomorrow or the next day! What a great way to spend my spring break.

Cheers.

Luckily, the front tag covers up the damage almost completely, so repairing it isn't a major priority at the moment. But all the mods I have done have been pretty cheap and DIY. I had to promise myself that I wouldn't get to wrapped up in modding, so I hardly spend any money on my car. I finally saved up enough money so that I feel justified in getting an actual mod, and then this crap happens.

But, since you mentioned your pressure switches, you should go ahead and get some Redline in your system if you haven't already. There a place near Billy Howell Ford called PFM engineering that sells Redline fluid pretty cheap. I got 12 bottles for like $120 including tax.

I have done my drain and fill with the Honda fluid multiple times. Ive always thought about redline, but im a guy who likes to use OEM stuff.
Maybe ill give it a go one day...
Thanks!
