Thumbs down Hit Bambi, literally

40-50 pound deer:

I got a $200 deductible, all covered. I just want to know:

* What you think about the total cost to fix?

* List of parts?

Thanks in advance.

oh deer.. are you ok?

I'd say that's like 1000 bucks worth of damage in parts alone.

ditto, this is where ins comes to the rescue. That's easily over 1k worth of damage. I'd say around 2-3.

obv parts needed just looking, fender, bumper, headlight.

Its probably 2-3k in damage, if you have an OEM insurance policy. If not probably about 1-1.5k.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I'm fine, the deer was dead on impact, no suffering.

Yea, I will get an estimate tomorrow to let you know if anyone is interested.

Majority is cosmetic, I swear the car pulls a little to the left now, but might be my imagination.

The dent on the hood looks correctable by a little elbow grease. They will still probably paint the whole thing...

If you were ever considering doing an 07-08 conversion, now would be the time. Glad to see you were not hurt.

RIP Bambi.

Haha, funny that you ask. Some guy stopped, asked if I just hit the deer and picked it up while I was looking over the damage/taking pictures. 'merica .

I ha similar damage and it was 4k.

Just the headlight is about 600$ from the dealer. That's not including the igniter and ballast if I'm remembering correctly.

Definitely take the opportunity to go with 07-08 bumper... It's the same price!

you should have kept the deer.....gotten it processed into sausage, sold it and made some money.....

Should told the guy that picked it up....pay you $100 dollars (bucks) and he can have it!!

Ouch!! That sucks. Hopefully it's all cosmetic. Take a close look at the drivers door body gap down near the bottom, make sure it's even the whole way down, and be sure you take it to a reputable shop.

When I first got my CL-S in 2004, I hit a deer after 6 months of ownership. This guy must've been Bambi's Grandfather, or Great-Great Grandfather (13 points on the antlers), damage was over $8k, but both airbags deployed, essentially the whole front end got replaced. I cried for days.

Good luck!

another injured TL!!? OP sorry to see this. at least you're ok.

it's probably gonna run $2-3k (headlight (someone mentioned-$6-800, fender (repair/repaint-$almost $1k), bumper (new and paint-$700), hood (repair and repaint-$500)....add tax it starts to go up to $4k. if you're alignment is messed up....add that on, suspension parts?

love the fur left over in your headlight. stupid bambi. good luck with the repairs. it'll be good as new when you get your car back.

Sc0tt,
I would say that damage needs about 2-3k worth of repair. Sorry to hear about your accident. I have hit two deers...or should I say they have hit me twice in the past few years. Atleast you are ok. Good luck with everything.

Glad your okay Scott. Sucks about hitting the deer. I see a lot of them around my daughters place when I visit. But it's slow driving through there. Hope your repairs go well.....

Perhaps some of these are in order:

i was leaving my dads house at about 9 at night.. didnt even get a 1/4 mile away and the deer just came out right in front of me! i didnt even have time to roll off the throttle. hit at about 50-60mph, went down hard and slid down the road a good bit.

Not too bad actually. Not as quiet as my Nexens I use in summer and definitely not as loud as the snow tires I used to have. I will stick with this Good Years all season moving forward, even though they are $600 for 4...
