Question Highway Road Trip

Hey fellas, I plan on taking a road trip in a few weeks all highway and was wondering if running regular would be ok for the trip? I mean its all highway mileage not regualar stop and go traffic. Does anyone think this would be a negative thing?

Why are you even considering it?

the engine has a high compression ratio of 11:1.
a lower octane will detonate early, resulting the ECU to pull back timing. Thus, lowering performance and fuel economy.

I don't get why people would do this i.e. put in a lesser octane gas than what the car requires.

Why consider doing this? To save 3-4 dollars a fill up?

seriously. the $$ difference between filling up from EMPTY to FULL using the lowest grade gas, and the highest grade gas is LESS THAN $5

if you feel your car doesn't deserve to get the highest grade gas for this road trip you might as well rent a rental car...

The ironic part, to me, is that you want to go cheap on gas when your car will actually be getting the BEST gas mileage!

^its not that its 5 dollars extra, its the fact that you get better fuel economy with Premium than Regular-degular octane fuels.

the engine will knock, the computer reduces timing.

I swear these threads are like a rash.

You don't have anything for weeks and weeks. Then all of the sudden one pops up. Then another and another and another.

Then they go away for while.
