Exclamation HID Light theft

Has anyone compared the new Civic headlights to the TL ?

The TLs HID lights are very similar to the new Civics halogen fixtures. I hope the lights are a different shape and size or we'll be finding more TLs missing their HID headlights.

That's what my insurance is for, and frankly if they get my headlight out without getting shot by me, more power to them.

All kidding aside, it would suck if we run into the problem the last gen. maxima was having.

its harder to take ours out without having to take the whole bumper off where as the old maximas it was just there for the taking. all manufactures now put the hid igniters underneath the headlight so if they really wanted they would have to take the whole thing that takes time

And they started putting identification tags on them.

Whereas the 2G TLs were still vulnerable. A shit ton of members in the 2G section got hit. It was insane.

The previous Maxima's HIDs were getting stolen left and right in the north-east about 2 years ago. My mother-in-law has one. The dealer, after much persuasion, installed a free mod that made it harder for thiefs to get them. Dealer kept playing dumb even though it was all over the press that there was a free kit at the dealer to make the lights more secure.

Problem was that HID was optional on Maxima, and many people were looking for "upgrade".

Actually, the HIDs were standard for the '02 and '03 5th generation Maximas. When the new Altima came out, Nissan had to put more "high end" features in the Maxima to keep it ahead of the Altima until the current generation of Maxima came out - hence HIDs standard on the Maxima but optional of the Altima. The problem with the Maxima's HIDs were they were apparently very easy for theives to remove from the car. Luckily, I live on the West Coast where thefts were not as prevailent.
