HID igniter
HID igniter
My passenger side HID was out, automatically i thought it was the bulb so i bought a new one which is like 100 and somthing dollars for one freakin bulb, still didn't work, wtf! so i swapped the igniter from the drivers side, and presto it worked! Does anyone know of a good place to pick up an igniter for our HID system, they're like 200+ from Acura, there's gotta be a better place to pick one up.

wish I knew, because I have the EXACT same problem. I have been asking for about a week with no luck
you are the man!
do you have a picture of the back of the headlight assembly that you could point out where the ignitor plugs into?
It's the hole just to the side of the circular cover for the bulb housing, right? (the one with the torx screw)

The ballast is the power source, the ignitor carries the power to the bulb, nothing wierd about that lol. I've made the mistake of powering the ballasts without a bulb in the bulb holder, nice purple arc those ignitors put out.
How do I swap ignitors without electrocuting myself?
Guys, this isn't to hard. Once you have the headlight out it's pretty self explanatory. Unscrew the ballast from the bottom of the headlight, pull up the gasket from the middle of the ballast where the ignitor plugs in, disconnect that, take the ignitor off the bulb and then pull it through the headlight.
The whole headlight will be off the car, the wire harness disconnected from the headlight, which means their will be no power going to anything on the headlight.

Wow.. Thanks everyone, and yes it's a tad bit tricky...but if you use common sense you'll get it no problem. just be careful to put everything back the way you took it apart. Thanks again all!
