They are 8000K, it took about 1 hr and 30 mins to install and I needed a relay because the fogs would flicker and then just blow the fuses. I upgraded the stock ones as well as the foglights. Its installed right in front of the wheel well right behind the bumper.

Here is a basic video on how to install them. I used this pretty much, since it is a different car the application is differnt.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=dvhDGMUV4pg&feature=related

You will need a relay for the fogs and be careful to have them off when installing or working with the hid's. It can shock you real badd!!

I got special bulbs for the acura headlight HID's so I would not have to modify the housing.

The best place to work on them is between the front tire and front bumper. The compartment right in front of the tire will give you direct access to those hard to reach projectors.

alright, thanks for the info man. where did you get your kit though? right now i'm looking at kits on xenonpros.com, for about $260 w/o the relays that i'd need. and just to make sure, 1000%, the fog's are H8's right?

another noob question -- only ONE relay harness is needed? you dont need a separate relay harness for each ballast?

Its ok were all noobs at some point, the kit is japanase. I will double check on brand. I tried with just one relay and the other fog went out so you will need two relays. As far as the bulbs, my fogs were H11 bulbs, wihch I believe are the same as H8's.

msala524, what are you using for your headlights, which brand?

My Kaixen, after one week of working, one bulb already died, my lesson for buying cheap bulbs.

I have a bunch of Philips Ultitone 6000K D2R, I wish they can be used

it had nothing to do with the bulb. Kaixens are a very good well known brand and of the highest quality. you probably unknowingly contaminated it. i have had Kaixens in my Acura RDX and then transfered it to my TL Type-S with absolutely no problems. its been alittle over a year now.

I bought cheap 9006 bulbs off ebay when I switched from H4 on my previous vehicle to an '05 TL. Think they were $28 pair shipped. They work just fine. Careful installation is key.

On that note. $260 is very spendy for an aftermarket HID kit these days. Just get one on ebay for $90 for the pair or that kaixen one.

i have found some less expensive kits, for under $200. but to me -- getting support from the company i buy from is just as important as the price. i'm a little hesitant to buy stuff like this off ebay, cuz the sellers not gonna give you any help or guarantee/warranty or whatever... just my

Hi, I've been handling hid bulbs for over 5 years, I wear gloves, and I am extremely careful.

And please do not compare Kaixens to Philips/GE manufacturing. Examine the bulbs next to each other and you will see a HUGE difference between them, especially notice the structure for bulb support on Philips vs Kaixens. One pioneered the technology, the other attempting to copy it, with great success though.

I only went with Kaixens because they do produce a bluer hue with 6000K, while Philips is 5800K, and actually has less lumens, about 2400, and Kaixen I believe 2600...

Maybe it's just my luck with the Kaixen bulb. who knows

this diagram shows only one relay is needed. msala524, is this how you had your kit hooked up when only one light worked?

This wire relay works with one PAIR of lights.

Specially designed for vehicles with various electrical issues (e.g. Flickering) using HID Xenon lighting systems. This wire relay kit includes relays to ensure sufficient (>400W) and stable electrical voltage/current for the HID Xenon systems to operate properly, and extends the life span of the HID Xenon lighting systems. Integrated replaceable fuses provide additional protection against overload and unstable electrical power. Imported from Japan.

The headlights are GX D2S/R with HID xenon 35w bulbs.

i dont want to come off as an ass so dont take this personal

dont compare Kaixens with Philips/GE? thats strange because i have had no problems with them also you are the first person i have heard that has had a problem with them. sure i could put the two together and compare them but what would that do? my Kaixens still work 100% fine till this day. and i have changed them from another car. also during the process of installing them (twice) i have scratched the bulbs from misshandling and they still work fine!

oh and you obviously must have done something wrong when installing them because they died... i dont wear gloves and bangged the bulbs around and they still work. id recommend Kaixens to anybody that wants quality bulbs at a fraction of the price.

Haha, can't we all just get along...?

Although, in the case of the TL foglights, I'm happy as long as they turn on and function anything like an HID bulb should. I'm also glad I got it for cheap. Sorry for those who have had bad experiences. This happens to me on occasion as well and you think to yourself "why didn't I just pay more and buy the better quality in the first place?" Afterall though, my reasoning for cheaper HID's was because all we're doing is adding an HID kit to a reflective type housing made for a halogen bulb. If I'm going to drop some serious cash, I would have found a used pair of BMW 3 series projector balls and retrofitted them into the foglight housing or something(04-06 TL).

Do you feel better now?

As I inspected the bulb, the inner top electrode is bent, unlike the other bulb, so yeah, I've must of done it? I should of inspected the bulbs prior to install.

I'm glad that you have great experience with moving bulbs around, I actually help my boy at the mechanic/body shop, so by far I'm not a noob, thus I will not blame myself for this install, as my car was on an actual lift, and I had a very easy time installing the bulbs properly.

I will contact the place where I bought these bulbs, see if they can replace this one bulb as it only lasted a week. I did notice a strange cut off on this bulb, but I thought it needed time to fully function.

In regards to Kaixen vs Philips/GE, Philips/GE will always be the best, as most German cars have Osram/Philips in their stock, and so did you when you got your TL. And, like I mentioned prior, this could be just my luck with a defective bulb

Peace bro

yea C has notches cut to be used with both style bases....D2S and D2R are the different ones..... R and has a shield on the glass of the bulb that directs the light in a similar pattern out of a reflector the same way it would look like out of a projector... S doesnt have the shield because it goes in the projector.

Hey bro, if this is not a secret, can you please tell us which kit you bought, and did it come already with it's own relay? If not, what are the specs for the relay, I have a few around my house that I may be able to use. Thanks!

(now don't vanish on us, lol)

I used 2 relays one for each fog because they didn't have enought battery power and kept flickering. Mine are behind the front bumper by the wheel wells. That way there protected from water, etc.

I've heard bad thing about xenonpros, they don't stand behind their warranty. Order them at xenonspecs.com they have the relay for it. $189 for the Slim ballast kit and $50 for the relay. $230 shipped. Make sure you order the slim ballast kit.
