Hi new here thinking about gettting an tl

So i currently have an 06 civic ex with navi with an auto tranny spent a lot of money on her. Ive been wanting an third generation tl but i cant afford to get a new one so im thinking about getting the 04-06 but ive been told that the 04 has a lot of tranny problems. Is this true and the 04-06 dont have fog lights i would want to put fog lights on. Here is my civic as she sits today.

The 04-06 TL does have fog lights, they are actually integrated into the headlights though, you can still mod the TL to have them to be on the bumper if you have them tho with the "Accord fogs mod" done. Insurance on the TL is pretty reasonable, you would definately be saving money because you are going from a2 door into a 4 door. The way insurance companies see it.....2 door= fast, speeding, racing, more prone to be involved in an accident, 4 door= family oriented vehicle, even though it has the same capabilties 2 door, its still cost less to insure than a 2 door. Best thing to do is to call your insurance company for a quote prior to buying the TL if insurance rate is a concern for you. If you get the TL.

I'm not sure if the 04 has tranny problems but I have heard of others, such as rattles, etc. Also, I've seen threads that most people recommend the 06 because of the upgrades.

OnlySome of the early 04s come with Tranny problems. I would definately go with an 05 or 06....

I'm have an 04 and am on my factory transmission. My 04 has served me very well. There are certain 04's with transmission issues. I suggest you get an 2005 or higher, if you get an 06 you have the tire pressure system added, and if you get 07+ you have the "refreshed" model. Honestly, look at the tsx, its a very nice car and it will save a ton of money on gas vs. the TL, plus its smaller and more nimble.

nothing wrong with that Civic. I say keep it, and throw your money in a 5 yr CD instead. After that, go buy a house or invest it.

Hey man, to be dead honest, I have a 04 TL and I was eyeing a RED 2 Door 06 civic at a dealer before i bought the TL, If I wasnt a family oriented guy I would have easily bought a civic coupe. God that car is so sexy. I love all the exterior and the interior is so innovative, man I wish I bought that car. With the MPG you get from that car too boot. I would so keep your car. TL is very powerful and very spacious but you already have a killer car that might have a few more pros than buying a expensive TL.

Is that 28 city or highway, because a TL should get 30-33 mpg on the highway, though only about 18-23 city. THis is a great car for highway cruising, very roomy especially for larger individuals, plenty of power, and economical too, the 3.2 engine spins only at 2000 rpm at 70 mph so you get great mileage.

I have an 04 and have had no tranny problems. It's the 03 and older that are known for tranny problems, the 04 has the same tranny as the 05.

It doesn't look like it has fog lights but it does, they're just integrated with the rest of the lights as someone said. Unless you are Canadian, where the TLs have no fog lights until (I think) 06.

Fog lights are stupid anyways, my last car had them and they don't make it easier to see through fog at all.
