Hi-Beam Upgrade ???

Just recently bought my 04 TL and am looking to purchase parts for upgrading when I return from Afghanistan. One of the aesthetic upgrades I would like to do is upgrade my Hi-Beams and add DRLs.

Question 1:
Are the Hi-Beam bulbs also used as the DRL bulbs? (if I choose to add DRLs)

Question 2:
Would there be any issues with the DRLs if I ugraded my Hi Beams to match my HID-D2S Low Beams using the slim 9006 5K V-HIDs kit?

Thanks For All The Help

Semper Fi,
Cory

We don't have a separate high beam from the projector itself. Are you talking about the fog light? Are projectors are both high and low beams aka Bi-xenon projectors.

Question 1 - Your high and low beam bulbs are the same so if you added drl's they would go in the current location of your foglights.

Question 2 - If you want to use an hid kit with your drl's there shouldn't be any issues with that.

Hope that helps Stay safe in Afghanistan. I was just there last year.

There is a such thing. It's called upgrading from halogen to xenon. After that you could also upgrade from xenon to bixenon. That's 2 upgrades by my count. Don't be so stupid. Lol

I thought we were already talking about xenons? I do not own an 04-06 but I assumed those had bixenons as well like the 07 and 08's? I know they have some goofy fog light thing in the headlight too but other than that the TL already have excellent xenon HID headlights no? There is nothing to upgrade as far as the actual bi-xenon projector. They are great units, and OEM bulbs are basically the brightest (most lumens) available... I dunno apparently im confused...carry on haha

I think he was referring to the fog light in the inner part of the headlight on the 04-06. Those are halogens. As far as the headlights, you are right, they are really good. No need to try and fix something that isn't broken.

Hey guys ... appreciate all the help. I was referring to the inner part of the 04-06 TL headlights (aka fog lights...feel like an idiot). Just to make sure I understand (I learn better kinesthetically) I could in essence upgrade my fog lights to DRLs as well as HIDs? If so does anyone know who makes a good DRL module now that the DesignTech DRL Module is no longer made?

If you're going to upgrade your fogs to HID and want to use as DRL you need to buy this DRL module by Grote. HIDs do not perform when using a module similar to Designtechs because reducing voltage on HID can harm your ballasts. This module would give your fogs pull voltage to power your HID kit.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm looking to do the exact same thing.
