Hey guys, I'm new to Acurazine and new to the car life
hey whatsup guys im zeek and i been viewing acurazine for the past week and noticed u guys are great help and the most accurate place with everything about TL third gen. ive realized i have alot to learn about cars since im now about to get my first one.
So my friend has 4 cars and one of them includes a ASM Acura tl 2004 with 124k clean title, which he told me he will sell me for $5k to me this sounds like a great deal. he purchased it about 3 months ago and as soon as he bought it he left it at a mechanic that did a tune up and claim he spent about $1500 on everything they changed.
i test drove the car and is running strong and smooth still, the only things i noticed that the air bag off light turns on and off and when i brake the brake pedal gets a tad bit shakey but not all the times mostly when braking around bumpy roads.
im planning to buy this car in about 2 weeks from him. this is going to be my first car and im planning to keep for about 15k more miles do u guys think this is a great deal and how would i know if he actually changed the timing belt water pump and everything else that should be done at 100k miles.
ill appreciate all suggestions and advice and i promise to search threads before asking questions of whats already been spoken about LOL

how would you klnow without physical inspection....receipts. the price sounds good but take it to an indy mechanic or an acura dealer for apre-purchase inspection. the airbag lights...get that checked. the brakes...are you sure its only on bumpy roads?? sounds like warped rotors so a brake job might be in the works.
does your friend have the maintenance records and the carfax? why is he selling? he may be selling it cheap, but there maybe issues you may have to deal with hence the lower price.

something's not right, 05 TL with124k miles for 5k is almost unheard of. As for airbag light, there is a recall if it is the driver side bag. I'd check fluids, brakes, motor mounts, axles, tires and the overall physical appearance of the car before I proceed. Is the title clear?

5k for a 04 TL w/ 124k (with no major issues) is an amazing deal. Like others have said get it checked out first. How close of a friend is it?

It's a good deal if the TL checks out with your own mechanic.

I wouldn't buy a car from a friend because if something goes wrong you'll never know if he screwed you.
You best be leaving the getting screwed part to complete strangers. hehe
